Stainless steel Brake lines...worth it?
Hey all,
With my new found brake paranoia, i was wondering if anyone had first hand experience with steel braided brake lines. Are they worth it? (on a street vehicle.)
Thanks!

If you're still on the origunal 'os lines they should be replaced anyway, might as well get the good stuff.
They aren't a day/night type of upgrade but they do give better pedal feel/modulation.
Under hard braking there is less line flex, therefore more force at the pads.
Also, make sure you get the type that have the coating over the braid. (most of them do now)

why is that? I thought the same but my mechanic told me there is no point the lines for my brembo's should be fine

They do last a long time, but after 7 (in your case) years of flexing under pressure.
JMO, but I would be thinking of replacement as preventive maintenance.
(nothing conclusive to say they must be done)

Thanks for the feedback folks. I guess peace of mind is worth the extra $$$...and better pedal feel can't hurt either.

IMO, yes they are worth the money. A Stillen brake master cylinder stiffener will help your brakes respond better too! Probably a bit better than the brake lines, although IMO the brake lines gets rid of a weaker link.
I guess that depends on the strut bar. But most of these strut bars don't do as much for chassis reinforcement as the brake master cylinder stiffener does for the brakes anyways. Ideally, you want a 3 point strut brace that reinforces the firewall, either or strut bars with fender braces. Anything else is mostly looks.
