What?...you want help spending your $$$
Don't forget this. Aside from obvious advantages when portrait shooting, it makes the grip feel much nicer in your hand.

The battery grip is a good upgrade. It allows you to hold the camera at 90 degrees without having to twist your wrists to get at the controls and shutter button. I have one on my Canon.

Be they cars or cameras, some guys just can't hold their mods. I'm lucky(?) I have a 'CFO' to keep me in check. Though since our older Canon Rebel XS bit the dust, I've cast a covetous eye on a 50D body...

Save the $100 and get a Rebel T2i.

I may yet do that since I like the option of video, which my T1i has and the 50D lacks. What I do like about the 50D, though, is its substantial feel and for some reason I was thinking had a superior sensor, but since both are 1.6, maybe not. Plus the 60D is due out soon and has video, hence the 50D will drop in price (though I was looking at gently-used anyway).

Battery grip! Adds substantiallity and heft. And, pretty much uses up the $100 saved.

Or maybe a used 5D?

^but he already has a small investment in Canon hardware. He'd have to sell/trade it all in.
