so if you own a hot tub, wtf do you do with the water when you're draining it? I empty my hot tub into the storm drain behind my house. If the water is clean enough for me to sit in it for an hour, it sure as hell is clean enough to go in a storm sewer.

Only a matter of time now before they start implementing this in Red Deer.

I sometimes hand wash on my driveway. My neighbors aren't ******, so they don't say anything. Last time I washed my car, my neighbor came out with his 2yo daughter and was joking around that I was trying to make my car grow.

I really can't believe that washing law is in effect.
Crazy, crazy, crazy. Heck I have never used an automatic car wash in my life.

OK, so this is where I get lambasted as an ardent environmentalist.

If it's a kiddie pool, sure empty it in the storm drain. If it's a large pool or hot tub, these contain chemicals such as chlorine, salt, pH balancers, alkalies and/or acids. Not good for your average wet land environment.

In my neighborhood, storm water drains all empty into a holding pond right behind my house. Every year we have several species of ducks, red-winged blackbirds, frogs, and a variety of other wet-land creatures living there. I, for one, don't want to upset that delicate balance. I like having these creatures around and my kids like having them around too.
