Ever since I got home from Italy a little over a month ago, I have been pretty much been doing one of two things.......landscaping or finishing my basement. We purchased a 1 year old two storey home shortly before we left for Italy and my first priority was to finish the basement and have it as my home theatre.

My brother in law and I did all of the framing and drywall, while I contracted out for the crack filling. It's been a lot of work but it's starting to progress at least. Before we put up the drywall, I ran multiple CAT6 jacks, and wired everything for surround sound both inside the basement and out to my deck. Basically, it's going to be the boys room of the house!! I am really looking forward to having this project completed and seeing the finished project.

Yep, been very busy since getting home Ian........the main reason why I haven't been on here much lately. It's been a little exhausting but I just want to get it done. After the painting is done, then comes the flooring and the bathroom, and the trim.

 

Im in the same position, I feel like I can tackle most of it, just gotta build up the ***** to do it. Did you have to re-route any of the HVAC ducting before to hung the drywall on the ceiling?

Spent the last number of days getting the basement painted. It's definitely starting to look like a room now! On a side note regarding painting I used Benjamin Moore's new Aura paint. Easily the best paint I've ever used. Not cheap at almost $80/gallon, but IMO it's worth it.

Yesterday I got my TV on the wall and started hooking up some of my components. Since flooring is next, I wanted to get everything in place so all of the speaker wire will completely hidden. It sure was nice to have some great sound again, it's the first time all of my gear has been hooked up since March.

Does the heat pump furnace have any ducting in the basement or are you relying on electric?

Deane, there is ducting for the heat pump in the basement as well. There are two electric baseboards as well for when it gets extremely cold. Hopefully I won't need them.
