Gen 2 6MT sedan or coupe guys, a question

How would you rate the clutch effort/feel for the gen2 6MT compared to gen 1? Heavy? Light? Agricultural? Progressive? BMW-like? Any difference between the clutch feel on the coupe vs sedan?

...just asking...

coupe & sedan are exactly the same.
There are a couple of DIYs that improve things though; especially the feel.

You converting your X to a 6MT

Not converting, just curious. Would you say OE without mods is heavy?

Yes, heavy, numb and very little progression.
There isn't much feel to it and it comes in like an off/on switch.

It really screws me up for a while when I get into the M after driving the G through the week.

Hmmm, my old M5 (E34) clutch was so light I could operate it with a finger or two and it was very progressive. Despite this it had no trouble coping with 320hp from the S38. Strange the G needs such a heavy pedal. Thanks for the feedback.

You do get used to it, especially if it's the only car you drive.
I didn't mind it as much before I had the M.

It's actually one of the reasons I'm considering moving out of the G though.

I drove Adam's Gen1 6MT in June, testing a Gen2 on Saturday...

Your 'you need these' line on the cats reminds me of Arthur with Dudley Moore. He's buying tons of flowers for Liza and is taking multiples of everything. He asks the florist what some big plant was, florist says in his best Jackie Mason: 'geraniums - you need five'.

Honda Accord
07~08 clutch has a somewhat high engagement point... 09+ seemed to have made it feel much better.

As for efforts, except for the spring-y feeling, it isn't too bad.

That pales in comparison to the greatest line in the movie, where a drunkn Arthur goes ass-over-teakettle over a hedge, picks himself up and slurs: "Pardon me..... oh, you're a hedge" That slays me. I don't know why.

Let us know how Saturday goes. And what colour you end up with.

IP on black by far the best combo IMO.

Spliken zee clutches... I was thinking of doing mine over the winter; what are people typically getting out off original clutches? I should be at 140k by then and it disengages fairly high as it is.

Drove a G37S today.
Clutch was niiiiiiice.
High engagement maybe, but very easy to modulate and drive smoothly.
