That sux man, I was worried about that also. Luckily my dealer hasn't asked for any receipts. Do you know anybody who works at a mechanic shop? Fake receipts would be my advice.

they'll want documentation proper service was done. your local dealer may be able to find out with the VIN if things were done at dealers. If not you'll need to do some research on previous owners and their service history.

i do my own oil changes etc but make sure I keep receipts for oil/filter etc. for that very reason.

^ Disappointing, but perhaps not surprising.

Hardly surprising. If they had everything ready to go, all new parts etc it could be done in a few days. But the labor involved with a shortblock is immense. Especially for a dealerships techs, as from my experience most of them unfortunately rely on a computer to tell them how to do their job.

i saw the engine/tranny pulled out of a G at my dealer recently. i asked what was being done and they told me the short block was being replaced. they said it would take about a week, and that only 1 guy at the dealer was capable of the job.

^^lol - they need to hire ex-BMW techs. They had PLENTY of experience overhauling shortblocks on the M60 Nikasil V8s...

Picked my car up late today.

The outside was nice and sparkly, the interior was spotless and smelled nice and clean. Popped open the hood and everything is where it should be, including my grounding cables and my K&N.

Runs and sounds like new. Which also means I have to go through the break-in process all over again. Drat!

They even replaced the damaged drivers side sill plate.

I'm a happy camper and maybe Hyatt has redeemed themselves in my eyes.

Wayne, that sounds pretty impressive. Especially the K&N and wires.

Enjoy the break in of your "new" car.
