Exclamation Tire pressure

Hey, got my winters on a couple weeks back driving nice and smooth and the other night after a highway drive the tire pressure light came on flashing then stayed on since.... keep in mind these are 17in steelie winters. any reason why, i thought the sensors were in stock 19's or does the light just need to be reset. what tp you run your winters on ? Keep in mind I didn't take the sensors off of the stock 19's

If you don't have sensors in your winter wheels then the light will stay on. Most of us just live with it. When you put your summer rims and tires with sensors back on the light will go out. I run around 34 psi in my winters.

your saying tpms lights came on? and that they didn't transfer your tmps to your winters? im kind of lost to what your saying, but my answer would be if they didn't transfer your tpms to your winters then the light will come and stay on.

^+1 extra set of sensors is expensive and so is resetting them at the stealer.

When you start driving after you have removed your sensors, you have to be driving above a certain speed and for more than a few minutes. I forget the exact numbers.

I think it's like 40kms in one trip or something before the car triggers it. So if you did like 5kms to the store and back kinda thing it wouldn't have set it off.

I also can't remember the exact numbers though.

Sounds like my 19s didn't have sensors in them then. Anytime I'd get on the freeway to drive long distance, the light would always come on. Doesn't happen anymore now that my 17s are on full time.

Janik, usually once the light comes on it stays on if you don't have sensors in your rims.

On the other hand if your rims do have sensors but you never programmed those ones for your car, they will come on intermittently. That happened to me when I bought Chico's OEM 18" wheels, but I never bothered to get the sensors programmed for my G. The light would come on once in a while during a highway run.

Weird. Yes, it would always turn off once I got off the freeway, shut the car off, etc.

Learn something new every day.

Sorry to jack this thread but I didnt know where to post this up ....

Does anyone know how long TPMS sensors generally last ?? I read somewhere that it depends on how much driving you do.

^ no, they kinda just die after a couple years. Usually good for at least 10 years, I've never changed the one in our Z and they are the same ones since 2003.

With the tire sensor, rev and vdc light on all the time, I don't even notice it anymore. I suppose to anyone not familiar, it looks like the car is about the crater

so is your traction control always off, or just the light is on?

i find whenever my light is on my traction control is OFF (even if I didn't manually turn it off)
