The "OMG I can't believe he drives that in the winter" Thread

I thought I was a bit nuts for driving my 04' Sedan in the winter this year but lately I've been seeing some pretty nice high priced Exotics driving around town its kind of a reality check making me realize driving a $20G (tops) car in the winter is not the end of the world. This is for all you guys who are scared to drive your $15. to $30. Grand "precious Rides" worried that a bit of snow and salt are going to ruin your average Joe vehicles.

Porche Carrera S
2010 Aston Martin Vantage (he was at the Coin Wash, I asked)
Audi R8

Who else has seen any examples or Automobile Abuse?

well those guys can put $100k-$300K on a car easily , so it doesnt really affect their finances or hurt them whereas , we average joes(speaking of course for myself) it's a relaively bigger deal to consider using the car in the winter or not.

i ve seen so many 4 wheel drive bimmers and Audis on the road with summer tires. they think having 4 wheel drive is enough for winter , no need for the winters.

trying to find my buddy's escalade esv a winter tire is so hard when he wants 285-45-22s the prices are bizarrely expensive

I guess your AWD cars would be pretty good in the snow fitted with winter tires like the R8, hmm that's why I always see Porche's driving around in the Winter I heard they're good in the snow.

can someone explain to me why it's surprising to see a hummer or escalade in the snow?

Lamborghini Gallardo in Edmonton, he has a convertible one for his summer car

One of the guys I know from Edmonton got his entire GT-R wrapped in clear bra and drives it in the winter.

But really in Alberta every second pick up truck you see is over $100,000 by the time you get a Diesel with a lift kit wheels, tires and all the go fast goodies. The Denali Diesels are $80,000 before all the $30K in crap the oil field guys hang off of them so I guess what is the difference at the end of the day they are driving around $100,000+ vehicle sliding into things and getting it beat with gravel and salt!!!
