I got about 100 pm's asking me to part the rims but nobody wanted the car. I figure I'd have to list it for 20-22k to realistically sell it.
When was this Andrew.. I'm curious if the economy/recession had a play in your difficulty selling.

The resale of these cars is atrocious. Just a fact you're going to have to live with.

Always part out and put back to stock when selling. Always. It's the only way you will recoup some costs.

Last spring/summer. As I said, I didn't try very hard (wasn't 100% on selling it) but I got the odd e-mail from Kijiji and that was about it. Autotrader spammed me, and I didn't get any leads off any of the automotive forums.

I suspect the economy did have some play, the market is not great for vehicles that cannot be driven in winter (my body kit kind of prevents that due to how low it is. That, and as mentioned, people don't like buying modified vehicles generally. I tried to return mine to stock but couldn't find stock body parts at reasonable prices.

Thanks for all the help and responses guys.

I'm not trying very hard to sell it right now either.
Once it comes out of storage and drive it again, I'm sure I'll want to hang on to it.

It does seem like parting out would be the best thing to do, unless another enthusiast takes it as is.

We'll see what happens.

I just gotta ask why you would want to sell a car like this? specially for a sti ?! In my humble opinion i say keep it cause youre losing serious money by selling it. With the modification you have now, all you need is a good tune by uprev and youre car will make for an extremely fun car. make sure to get it dyno tuned, I got mine done at sg motorsport from Sasha. Cost me around 500 or 600$ cant remember now. Would be sad to see a car worth so much in inherent value, go for so little.
but if you are gonna part out, Im def interested in the 06 lights!

i actually met a fella yesterday he just sold his 2003 black g35 5at 99k kms, he sold it for 15,000. my car is pretty much same yr and km, even though i always wanna upgrade to a better(g37 or new 3series coupe or 6series) i cant seem to get a equivalent car in the market without paying 15-20k more. STIs are, no argue, way faster than our cars , but i still prefer mine, in terms of being comfortable a lot of interior options i cant find in another car without paying 10-20k $ more. that's why rather than selling it at 15-16k now,and i know my car inside out for the last 3yrs, i am gonna keep it till i have enough to upgrade.

on the other hand my buddy bought a 2008 3.28i coupe, he has a problem every other month, he already started hating on his car, if u r gonna choose that route make sure u have warranty(my buddy has) because he could have paid in total 10-15k easily on repairs since he bought it. but its a 35-40K car.

your car still worth over 20(awesome mileage), either sell it this year or keep it long term cause its kind of a threshold at that age, the value will start declining faster.

With the car in storage, there's not much I can do right now.

If I decide to keep it, I was definitely going to get a tune this year.

I'll see what happens when the Spring/Summer season comes around.
Maybe there will be more interest around that time, that will help me make a final decision.

Thanks guys!

UPDATE!!!

With the weather being quite nice this past week, I officially took the car out of storage last night!!!

Oh, how I miss driving this car!!!
Took it for a nice drive on the highway late last night.
It was all smiles from ear to ear.

When are the rest of you owners who stored your cars plan on taking it out?!

^ x's 1000. I put winters on and dive a 97Grand Cherokee through the winter (ug). Every chance I get, I take the G out. Been to TO twice this week and am always smiling (except for the price of gas).

Had my M coupe out last Sunday.

She went back into hibernation until the week of the 27th when she comes home for good.

Can't wait to peal the cover off mine this weekend.
I have a few things to pull off for mods prep.

^I forgot how raw the car is. I forgot the tiny cabin, noise and roughness....however made it me grin both when I looked at it after taking the cover off and when I pressed the loud pedal. I even had a 7-8 girl in a car give me a thumbs up while at the traffic lights. LOL
