I don't see any good car deals in the US...

Since the loss of my G 3 weeks ago I figured with our dollar going well (up till today) it would be a good time to shop in the US for a G .....WRONG, the prices are horrible and I'm looking in Arizona. My buddy is down there frequently for business so he said if I find a car he'd go check it out for me and even make the deal if need be. For ex. a G35 S with 45k + miles is $23,000 + tax and if I bring it over + GST + 6.1% cause it was made in Japan + installing DRL's and all the other fees associated with bringing the car here. I'm better off buying here I guess if you buy a Subi brand new its worth it but an Infiniti.....not worth it.

Deals are definitely brand dependent Roy.
There are kickazz deals on certain models & brands but others just aren't worth it.

I agree. I looked at the costs associated with newer Gs a few years ago and found the same. It's that damn imported vehicle fee that's the deal breaker.
We have a friend who bought a used Odyssey Touring from Florida and they paid almost $10k less than it would have been here.

Pretty sure mine still has four doors and six speeds. Unless somehow I'm missing something

I looked south before buying my G in Canada. The prices are a tiny bit lower. When the duty is added, the price differential is too little to make it worthwhile. I did import a brand new Odyssey though and the savings was $9k after all done. It really does depend on the car and where it is made.

I have been looking for a new car in the states lately. The big deal for me is beign able to find the combination I am looking for, and while there is the opportunity to save quite a bit or just a small amount, the larger amount of used cars in the states makes it easier as long as it is near a major airport. My idea is to just make a list of cars I am interested in so that I am able to find something within my price range. Looking at G37's, they are all over the place, but you can find some good deals on 6mt's depending on where you look. I have also been looking at 370z's, but having to sort through those is a pain as I would be looking for both the touring and sport package. The best deal I have found currently is on S2000's, with 08's available with lower mileage, around 20k miles for about $22000, so I might go in that direction as I have always wanted one.

Probably the best website for searching though is http://autos.yahoo.com Very easy to narrow things down compared to autotrader, and it runs off of the cars.com database.

i was looking at infiniti Canada vs Us

exact same car....g37 awd coupe.... US Price $40,250... Canadian $51,700..

$11,450 difference wtf???

i think buying brand new from US usually makes the most financial sense, however second hand (unless you are buying $70-$80K car) is not that worth unless u go for GM vehicles.
