Winter tires
Re: Winter tires
Jerry, do you have a pic and info concerning the 16" alloys you are selling for the winters.
Thanks, Wayne

How do you like the Pirelli's, I have read good reviews. DId you get rims too?
Also, how much did the whole set-up cost?
I just picked up a 2005 x and can just imagine that a set of snows will just about add superhero powers to the car even though I drove it through last week's snow (Toronto) and the OEM tires seemed to grip just fine even on ice.
Cheers

I am very happy with mine also. I added the 215/60R16 Blizzak WS-50 snows with BSA 16 x 7.0" alloys and the snow performance is unreal.

Does the X really need to downsize to 16" for winter? How do they look?
I really like the look of 17" rims/wheels on the car.
Between the 16" tires and the Blizzak WS-50 your car should be on call for emergency services during blizzards (now that Mel Lastman's no longer around to cal in the army).

Nice car! Doesn't look too bad at all - rubber looks a bit chubby maybe.
Given how long our Canadian winters are I might just save up for 17" though. It seems the winter tread is on as long as the summer tread. Would an extra $500 cover the upsize?
As an aside, what happens to the tire-pressure monitoring system when you switch off tires and rims? Doesn't it work based on sensors attached to the insides of the valve stems on the stock rims??

For the TPS monitors, I just left the sensors installed on my summer rim and tire set (that is what my dealer usually does). The light only came on in my dash once. I have never had tire pressure concerns in 35 years so why worry now. When I put my 17s back on I will have the system functioning again.

I have always put snows on black steelies too. I would dress them up with a set of Canadian Tire hubs.
But.... now I am dealing with a car that cost me almost twice as much as anything else I have owned... so I figure .. "if you're gonna go then go big!".
Cheers! Best of the Holidays!
