any V8 transplants in the GTA

Im surprised its not a common mod
yes the 5.6 doesnt make a ton of HP yet...
the engine is a torquer... but messing with
the cam timeing tables etc could yeild some gains
and swapping out the cams etc could put it over 400 easily

has this been tried ?

I was once talking to Vic Simone, and he said there's a chance the 4.5 is almost a direct drop-in motor for the G. The 5.6 looks like it'd require a lot more work and money in relation to the gains.

This is the only VK56 swap I know of:

Yea. If you look at the hood, it's cut open and the blower can be seen poking up.

Here's the same car painted orange now, versus a 350z. The Z can't even be heard over the V8.

I have stuck a lot of different engines in a lot of different cars...
fabricating mounts and accessory brackets are not a big deal
in all honesty i had forgotten about the 4.5... im liking that it
could be a simpler transplant and no I wont do a SBC in a G35 lol

I can't stand when people stick LS1s into imports lol. Regardless of which V8 you choose, you'll need stand alone engine management most likely and a tranny bell housing adapter plate you'd have to fab.

You sound pretty talented. Fab me some long tube headers!

The sad thing about Nissans V8s is none of them are overly powerful even with bolt ons you would make more power cheeper with a supercharger or turbos on the VQ35. That being said if my 3.8L dosent work out this time I think a V8 will fine it's way under the hood.

It's too much work. It has been done before, but with it being such a heavy motor it takes away from handling characteristics and requires a lot of modifying to the front end...

That G might attract a little popo action without some pipes and cans for the street.

It certainly sounds and looks mighty potent.

HotRod got 499hp out of a LS2 with headers, heads, cam, rockers and intake manifold with the 90mm bore. None of the cams were that radical either. Still had tons of vaccum for a rock solid idle at 500 rpm. All on pump gas.

Guess what? They didn't bother even touching the stock ecu.

With a package like that, with that potential, all in something that's way smaller than a DOHC V8, it's hard to ignore.

i called to ask vic at Simone's about the 4.5L drop and he said it was possible and would call me back with more info. he never called back. then i called later to ask about spring and shocks and again told me that would call back and never did...

i wonder about the ecu set up, and im sure there would be a need for a custom exhaust and intake. plus how would all the electronics in the car be run? would the front suspension need to be changed to compesate for the newly added weight in the front? tires have a weight rating does that mean that the front would need to be a different size? for all this money might as well get bolt on and get to that power and save some money or get a F/I kit. turbonetics is good for ppl that dont want to pull their engine and superchargers are pretty much a bolt on.

There are enough aftermarket bits and pieces to tune the stock ecu and the mechanical stuff is just head scratching time to sort things out.... Once it's all in then I'd start messing with a super charger

Intake and exhaust is just plumbing
I've done it all on various swaps.... It's actually kinda fun in the planning stages.
