Flying to Toronto, Have a Question

Me and my family need to book a flight to Toronto for our trip to Portugal in October.I checked Air Canada's website for pricing and was blown away (and disgusted as well). For my wife, daughter, and I to do a return flight from Saint John was $1824. Are you f'ing serious??? It's a 1:45 minute flight for christ sake! $1824 can take my wife and I to the Caribbean for a week all inclusive.

Anyways, looking at some other options I found that Porter flys out of Moncton. The caveat is that they fly only into Toronto City Center. Because of flight times, I can only fly Porter going there and will still need to fly AC coming back. The total cost then would be $1620. So since I've never flown into Toronto City Center, how much of a PITA is it to get from City Center airport to Pearson? Anyone know approximately how much a taxi would cost? I like the thought of paying a little less, but if it's too much of a PITA, I won't bother. Thoughts?

Try this...Looks like about $57.

I can not conform it's accuracy though.

Edit: It truly is disgusting how expensive it is to fly/travel within our own country. It's no wonder we choose to visit other countries first...you get far more...for a lot less. It's a shame too, we have such a beautiful country that many of us cant afford to see.

Thanks for the link Paul. How do the taxis work in Toronto.......is it one fee regardless of how many people in the taxi or do they charge extra for each person?

And yeah, it certainly is disgusting to see how expensive it is to travel within our Country. My package to Portugal includes return airfare out of Toronto, Luxury Villa on the ocean for 3 weeks, and a rental car for the entire stay and it's only $1900pp. Yet it's basically the same price for the 3 of us to simply fly to Toronto. It's f'ing ridiculous!

Might be way off course here but I'm looking at flights from Moncton with westjet to Toronto and picking random dates in October (without specifics of your trip) and each ticket is 159... which times the three of you then both ways ends up being about 950 + taxes (which these days are ample).

Maybe westjet is worth a closer look?

Air Canada is, by far, the biggest rip off an average consumer will experience in a lifetime. The few times I've actually saved money by travelling with them, the flights were either cancelled either before takeoff or while mid-route. In one instance they lost my bag twice in the same trip

Even in times where I've found westjet was a bit more expensive, I gladly flew with them. The customer service goes WAY beyond AC and while not always perfect eventually you come upon someone who is willing to go a little extra to help you out or at least offer some flight credits. It's a decent gesture that you almost need to beat someone to death for with AC... who really just caters to the elite and super elite status flyers. Don't get me wrong- for the corporate world AC offers more flexible scheduling and has the first class seating and accommodations- but for the everyday traveller (I fly 8 times per month) westjet is the only way to go.

I've looked into Westjet as well and they are $1468 for the 3 of us. The issue is that I would need to spend a night in Toronto on the way back due to their flight times. So the added costs of a hotel and meals puts me at the price of the Porter/AC combo and I get home a day sooner. This is one of the FEW reasons that living in the Maritimes has it's disadvantages.

Hey there ... sorry to say but AC is your only option if time is a constraint
However ... Finding a taxi shouldn't be a problem at all from the city airport to pearson. I think it would cost you about 40-45 bucks. Taxi drivers here in Toronto are chilled out so you can literally negotiate a fixed rate with him before hopping on. 50 at the max i would say.
Did you check out www.cheapoair.com? I have always ended up saving money on this website. I tried to search around october and it's coming around 500 for a person via AC.
Anyways .. good luck with that and enjoy your eurotrip
If you have any other quests ... let me know mate !!

towncar companies are the best way to go, they charge you 50 bucks (sometimes u can even negotiate) , if you were alone, i would have advised to take the subway and bus 45min flat from city centre $3 cost because its pretty fast but too much of hassle if you have lot of luggages, as i said best bet is town cars(they have black lincolns) they are 50-80bucks. i know downtown hotels also have shuttle for cheap too,.
