Hey badg35,
You're absolutley bang on. Having another vehicle for a reference really makes you apreciate the better one. My worst was going from a '93 MX6 to a '89 ranger supercab 5 spd V6 in the winter. Talk about a Peterbilt trans and no power. I made the mistake of putting two sizes larger tires on it. When there was any amount of snow I had to run at least one gear lower just to maintain speed because of reduced power with the bigger rubber. I now drive a Grand Cherokee Limited some in the summer wet days and throughout the winter. I have not had the G through a winter season yet but I know what it was like switching to my MX6 in the spring. It felt like a ferrari because of the handling improvement from the floppy jeep. The G obviously is a big step up from the MX6 as well so it should be pretty interesting this spring. The only department (besides winter snow) the jeep serves well in is power, but the gas stations are frequent stops. I've got the V8 with quadra drive(locking front and rear diff). It's got good power, accelleration and awesome traction in the deep slippery stuff. Our third vehicle is a cheap grocery getter -01 Sunfire for my wife that does just that plus gets her to her job 4km away. So either way, whatever I'm used to this spring the G will feel pretty damn good in the spring. It's 7 degrees and sunny here now. I would like to be out in the G right now!

LOL! I hear you my friend! The sun is shining here in Toronto and I am deciding if I should take her out for one last crusie to Tim Horton's before we get the mega dump! LOL!

GOD I LOVE THIS CAR!

BAD- Now that's passion for your car.
Get used to the urge to drive. You're going to have many more of these days before winter is over. I just checked our temp. It's 8.8 in the shade! Do now what you think you can live with next week.
My G is locked up in a mass garage behind some other cars 90 km away so I have to resist the temptation.
Cheers

Hey RBull, I am not too far away from you. I live just outside of Saint John. Unfortunately, my 03 Sedan is my only vehicle so storing it for the winter is not an option. I put steel wheels and winter tires on it a few weeks ago (btw, they make the car look like crap!)

Right on Canuck. You're the first Atlantic guy I've seen here but I just joined a month ago.
In our climate it's better to be safe than sorry without winter rubber. To improve the look I guess you could always get some hub caps from CTire if you haven't already.
I'm headed to NB next weekend to visit the inlaws in Bathurst.

Yeah, I don't think are many Maritimers on here...you are the first that I have seen also. I am not too concerned about the looks of the steel wheels. My sedan is black so you can imagine how well the salt shows up on it. I keep the salt off it as much as possible, but it still bugs me not having a clean car.

On another note, its kind of nice having a G and living in the Maritimes. Since there is only one dealer in all of the Maritimes (O'Reagans of course), that means that are area is not saturated with G35s. There is only two other G35s in all of Saint John....which is good because it makes my car stand out more here than it would in a place like Toronto.

Wow, that's pretty good with only two of them in your city. Are there any coupes at all that you have seen? We've got a lot more G's here probably because the O'Regans are here in Halifax.
I'm not sure how many sedans but there are about 8-10 coupes in the area- only one other red one here but with the graphite interior.
Have you been happy with the car and what do you on the service front since the dealer is here?

I'm driving mine all throughout our snowy Quebec winters on the stock 18's and Yokohama Ice Guard whetires. I keep it in a garage at home and at work, and I give it a full rinse when I get home if it looks like any excessive salt got on the car. I also have a bucket set up to give the rims a quick wipe down every couple days. Mind you, I've had the car for a week, but I think that as long as I keep the regiment of rinsing salt off and underneath the car and wiping the rims, I shouldn't have a problem. Besides, I'm not paying ~$800/month to store it in a garage. I'll enjoy it fully while I own it, that's the point of buying a car like this, isn't it? If I had the luxury of a nice winter car (Range, G Benz, Escalade, etc), then I would put it away, but I'm not going to ride around in a beater during winter while my G sits under a cover and my pocket is $1000 lighter on a monthly basis (adding insurance and storage).

Just my 2 cents

Well, I guess there is four G35s total in Saint John. Mine, two other sedans and one black coupe. I find a get a lot of younger punks with the their riced up civics, sunfires, neons, etc wanna race me. I assume it is because they are not familiar with the G35 and have no idea how much power they have. Anyways, most of the time I just let them have their fun, but once in a while I'll smoke em when they have their girlfriend or buddy in the car.

I get mine serviced at Mapleleaft Nissan in Saint John, which is probably the best dealer I have ever dealt with. I had my brakes/rotors replaced back in the summer under warranty at Nissan. They just order up the necesary parts from O'Reagans. I bought the car last October and that is the only thing I have to do so far. Its been an awesome car so far.

By the way, I absolutely love the red on the coupes....definitely would be my first choice. If I were to buy an 05 sedan, red would be the one. Black looks really nice on the G.....when its clean.

Yeah, I hear ya. That's alot of money to pay to have it sit stored for 6 months of the year. I, like you, would also store mine IF had were wealthy enough to have a really nice SUV for the winter. Btw, those new Pathfinders are amazing, totally love them. Too bad I can't afford to have $45k vehicle as my second car.

Hey guys
I would have to agree with you if one had to pay that kind of money to have a car stored. Over 5 months I'm paying $34.50/ month plus about $75 monthly insurance to store mine so it's a no brainer since I have a loaded Jeep Grand to drive in the meantime, but I'll sure appreciate the G come April. You guys sound like you're doing a great job looking after them to minimize damage from the elements.

Thanks for the feedback Canuck on the colour. I really love it. Black looks sharp on both the coupe and the sedan too. The deep colours require some effort to keep them clean. That's great that you have an excellent Nissan dealer to go to. O'regans have been good to me so far.

I haven't had any digs with any tuners and they don't seem to look for me. I have had a run with an s2000, a couple of Wrx's, 300z and have not lost yet. The one wrx was a tie so they're quick.

Have a good day.

Storage

Whats up everyone,

I have my G somewhat stored. its covered sitting at the back of my driveway. my storage place fell through and I don't trust too many places with my ride. Hope to have her garaged this weekend so the cover is holding up ok for now!

Hey Zicog 35,
Good luck finding a spot. I know what you mean about finding a place you can trust. It worth it when you do. I had a lot of places I looked at from apartment buildings to private residential garages to barns. I really wanted a heated space but didn't get it.
Mine is in a warehouse with 24 hour security. Hopefully she will be safe and secure.

Hey Zico...

If you need a spot to store your car in Toronto... I have a large secured facility in Ajax, Ontario. Currently I have 2 of my muscle cars and about 5 other cars in there. It is heated and would be a terrific place to keep your G out of the weather. Of course this would only help you if you are in the GTA. This goes for anyone else interested. Rates per month are very reasonable and I dare you to find a better price anywhere in the GTA. I have space and want to fill it up

Good Luck,

BADG35
