I put mine away in storage a month ago now and I'm aching to get it back.
My Grand Cherokee just doesn't cut it although it sure was great with the winter we had last year.
Post your winter routine.

I don't drive it much in the winter since I'm retired now, and not on lousy days, but I do drive my Coupe thru the winter months.....(my only ride). It does get cleaned (top and underneath) when she gets home tho.
It's a PITA, but I feel much better knowing she's clean, and it drasticly cuts down on the mess in the garage.
Do you fully winterize your G or do you start her up periodically to keep it working?

She stays dormant from Nov 18 until April 9
I rent a spot at an exhibition facility about 60 miles from home. They have 3 large buildings with 24 hour security that is mostly filled with RV's, boats and a few cars. It's economical and leaves the garage free for our two other vehicles.
Basically for winterization I disconnect the battery, change the oil, top the fuel and jack the tires to 42 lbs. Infinti told me not to use fuel stabilizer which I always did with my last vehicle- 93 Mx6.
I'm retired now too, left my job of 22 years 2 months ago but will likely find something else to do in early spring.

Welcome BTW. I see you're fairly new to our site. Congrats on the ride.
Sounds like you've got all the bases covered with the winterization, but how about insurance? Since it's not at home, it won't be covered by your homeowners pachage.
I've heard that Nissan doesn't like the fuel stabilizers.-- I wonder why. Is it that they feel they are unnecessary, or detrimental?
I've got friends in Lunenburg, and know some peeps in Yarmouth. You anywhere near them?

Thanks GSM. I found the site maybe 6-7 weeks ago. It's a great source of information if you can stay clear of some of the redneck kids on here!
I'm in Dartmouth about 100k from Lunenburg but a long way from Yarmouth.
I picked up my M6 coupe in May and only have about 7k on it. It's red on willow. It's actually the only one in Atlantic Canada that colour combo. I ordered it in December 03 with nav but the dealer screwed up and I didn't want to wait another 12-14 weeks for a reorder. These cars are sure fun to drive.
Basically what the nissan/infiniti folks say about fuel stabilizers is there are so many fuel additives out there they can't test them all for potential damage and therefore recommend no additives. They also said the fuel systems are very well sealed minimizing air or moisture infiltration.
I keep the insurance on it less public liability. That's what I did for 11 years with the Mazda.
How do you like the Borla and has the intake set up added or detracted from the performance? I made an earth grounding kit from a DIY post here. It was easy and cost about $45. I also put on some pedals which I didn't find easy. They look great though.
Cheers.

Welcome to the forum RBull & congrats on the ride.
I understand the feelings when putting a car away.
Over the years I've had other cars that were stored.
For me, the pain of storing was more than offset
by the condition of the car when it's 5 or 6 years old.
Also, it's almost like getting a new car every spring
I'm driving my G this winter, but on a very limited basis & just on nice days.
I have an F-150 that faces most of winters furry.

Thanks for the welcome Intgr8r and congrats on your ride too.
Both you and GSM have the silverstone which was my second choice on car colour. Very nice.
I couldn't have put it better myself. After having stored an MX6 for 11 years I still had that new car feeling when I pulled it out in the spring. Many years ago I had a 69 Torino GT 428 SCJ that I stored in the winter and I remember the same thing.
It certainly has always helped at resale time too.
Here on the EAst Coast our freeze/thaw weather and the amount of salt in the air and on the roads really plays havoc if you don't pamper your ride.

RBull.. Glad you enjoy our site. It can be lots of fun, informative and cost saving.
Sorry to hear of the dealer screw-up. I guess since you havn't had it, you won't miss the navi... I've had it on both my Sedan and now on my Coupe.. I'd really miss it now. I'm hooked.
I agree with the thinking about the additives. They probably won't be necessary since there are many additives already in our gas, and we don't know the damage that 'off the shelf' additives will do.
I've read that Methyl Hydrate that we used to put in regularly to help prevent gas line freeze up is an absolute no-no. Too much aluminum in our engines. (which is lunch for that stuff)
I saw from another post that you had a B/Block Torino in the past. Nice ride. I had the same engine in a '68 Shleby GT500 (ragtop) for some years -- wish I still had it. What a torque monster
Love the Borla. It's not intrusive, looks great, and adds noticeable power.
The Crawford is good, but i'm undecided as to which CAI is best. I installed the Z-Tube with K&N = Good. Then went to K&N Typhoon= good, then K&N Typhoon with JWT popcharger= ok.
I went back to stock and liked that too. If I keep the car, I'll go back to Z-tube and K&N panel in stock housing. The OEM intake is hard to beat.
I've got Gordgee's grounding in mine and love it. Very noticeable improvement in idle and throttle/transmission response.
Other than that, I use synthetics in the engine and rear end. I haven't touched the tranny fluid at all since Nissan expressly says not to.
Some of the guys who have put the pedals on have said heating them (slightly) has helped with manouvering them on. (especially if it's ccccold out like now)
G/L with your mods, here's hoping for an early spring.

GSM You're right, I don't miss the navi since I don't have it. In any event the system is virtually not working in Atlantic Canada anyhow. With the population and size of cities etc. it's not a major problem to look at a map periodically in this part of the country and I don't expect to do too much travel with that car. I wanted it partly for the novelty and exclusivity factors.
That's interesting you're familiar with the Cobra Jets. That was my first car I ever had when I was 16. Pretty crazy ride for a somewhat immature (and speed addicted) kid back then!
On the G I'm running synthetic in the oil pan and expect to switch the diff to synthetic when I pull her out of storage. With the manual I think I'm okay to change to synethic in the gearbox as long as I'm meeting their specs. I've been considering the K&N and Z tube so was interested to hear your feedback after all the mods you've been through. After reading the mixed bag of posts I was kind of inclined to leave it stock. I hadn't really considered doing anything to the exhaust or plenum partly for financial reasons right now but your comments on the noticable power increase intrigue me. I noticed a very slight improvement in my idle and the throttle response with the wires but it wasn't major. There was another post I saw -something on improving the ignition affecting spark, idling and brighter lights. I may look into that some more.
Our weather has been quite warm and we're expecting a green Christmas. They're calling for 11- 12 degrees this weekend. I could still be driving the G this year!
Cheers

Put My coupe away in November
I put my coupe away the last week of November. Its in the garage with the Infiniti car cover that I received with the car on it.
I sold my 2003 Subaru OBS and bought a 2004 WRX to get me around in the snow.
I do have a set of Enkei CDR9 wheels (17") with pirelli Snow tires for my coupe to sell. Neither the wheels nor the tires have ever been mounted on the car. They are BRAND NEW and purchased from the Infiniti dealer.
If anyone is interested PM me.

Hey Scoop,
You've got a couple of very nice rides there. Barrie sure receives its share of snow so I'm sure the Subaru is well appreciated. You just can't make use of all that power. I'd be interested in hearing whether the G or WRX is the quicker machine on dry pavement.
Good luck selling the tires.

Hey Scoop,
Nice to hear from you bro. I was getting worried.
Those wheels are the same as my winter settup, and are nice wheels.
Great winter ride you've got there;... nearly as quick as the G.
Later bro, here's hoping for an early spring.

Hey Guys,
I bought my G in October this year and fully intended on driving it through the winter however when it came time to buy my rims and tires I was really ticked at the price. Now, as some of the dealers said "You bought a 50k sports car and your complaining about 2500.00 Rims and tires?" Yeah ok I agree with them but give me a break!
Anyhow, I tried to sell my 97 Grand Am GT for $3500.00 but I didn't even get 1 phone call so.... I decided screw it! I am putting the G away and will drive my 6 year daily driver that still looks just as good 6 years ago when I bought it. I found for the price of snow tires and rims one could go out and buy a winter beater! In my case I already had one that was paid for, economical and more importantly amazing in the snow with the winter tires and rims I bought 3years ago.
Below are the advantages for storing your G for the winter... (In my opinion anyways...)
1) Less miles on the car
2) No Stone chips!
3) Windshield is not being pelted with road debris and salt!
4) The car won't rust away!
5) The Grand-Am is a lot better on fuel!
6) Save on collision coverage on your insurance
7) You won't get stuck in the snow, snow tires or not
8) You won't wreck your G because some idiot in an SUV thinks he's evil kanevil
9) You have the whole winter to wash and wax your baby!
Anyhow, I am really glad the Grand am didn't sell because now the G's sleeping safe, sound & Clean! But I am dying to go for a spin!!!

Hey badg35
You pretty hit the nail with your benefits of storage. One other I can think of is the feeling of appreciation when you step out of an inferior vehicle and back into your primary ride. My experience storing several other vehicles made me feel for years like they were brand new when I took them out in the spring.
Let's hope for an early spring.

Hey RBull,
Funny you mention that... I have to say I truly loved my Grand-Am GT. 2 Door 5 Speed (Pretty Rare). Anyhow, I used to wax it ever month and constantly got comments on how nice it always looked. I thought that car was the best. Then I got my G and drove it for about 2 months.
Well let's just say now that I am driving the Grand Am again I can't believe I drove that car for 6 years!! LOL The shifter feels like it's from a Peterbilt, the car handles like a 1955 Chev, the seats feel like I am sitting on a pillow and the car has NO power. It is amazing how it feels when I jump back in the G. Feels like I am driving the best car ever made.
Funny how your expectations change when you can afford something better.
