08' G not as fun as my 04' G.....

I've been driving my G every day back and forth to work now (20min) and I don't know what it is but my 08' G35 S seems a bit more bland in the power department than my 04' sedan was. mid range torque is almost non existent compared to my 04' and the clutch doesn't seem as strong as my 04' although its more easy in terms of how hard it is to push down, I hate the shaking I get when I'm starting off on a hill and I still can't drive it as smooth as my 04' also I notice if I'm cruising and I decide to accelerate quickly there is a slight hesitation before it takes off everything else is better than my old 04'. Here is an example of the power difference albeit not a good one, in my 04' I could chirp in 4th gear in the 08' I have to try to get it to chirp in 3rd, both cars had the same tires (Blizzaks in the same shape) both are 6spd.

What gives? could it be that my other car had some mods and this one is still stock? geez if that's the case it doesn't take much to unlock the HP on a 1st gen I hope its as easy for the 2nd......although its probably not cause plenums are no good and CAI's are no good also which leaves you with only the exhaust pully's suck and damage your engine.

I can't comment on transmissions, but i do feel like my 05 was more fun to toss into corners. Again, probably because of mods, but overall driving excitement, I get way more out of my 08. A rev match down shift and planting my foot the floor, watching the speedo pull harder and harder into quite illegal speeds, literally gives me goosebumps thinking about it. I love running this car through the gears on the freeway and I am more than pumped to take it down the dragon with some sticky summer rubber, sway bars and upgraded springs!

Maybe its just me getting used to the car, I had the same feeling when I took it out for a test drive for the first time. Was your previous car also a 6spd? how much mods were done to your previous car?

Roy I always found my 07 sedan a big improvement performance wise as compared to my 05 sedan. Both these cars were automatics though.

Maybe you are just getting used to it now, or perhaps getting the itch for something different.

I've driven 2-3 newer sedans and when I go back to my 03 I notice how much more 'connected' I feel to the road. Could be my suspension mods compared to stock, but it's just a more visceral driving feel.

I noticed a similar change going between the 07 sedan and the 08 coupe. I wonder if coupe dampers and springs on a sedan would...

As much as I would like it 1 its out of my budget and 2 this is going to be a VERY expensive year, here's what I have to look forward to this Year......

- New fridge & stove after Christmas

- Family trip to Portugual to see my Wife's family (4 people)

- Uncle & Aunts 50th Anniversary party

- my Dads 60th Birthday party

- my Bro's getting married in Sept I'm the best man my Wife is MOH my older Daughter is Junior Brides made and youngest Daughter is Flower Girl

- My house needs some Landscaping done and outside painted, shed needs to be re-done.

- Rental house needs a few more things that I couldn't finish last year.

-My Truck needs Vinyl decals for my DJ Biz

Needless to say I won't be touching my G35 this Year...... I'm really gonna try to get the front lip but its a long shot, I'll be lucky to pay for the oil changes.
