Calgary - Need help with summer tires

Hi, I'm looking for help / reviews on summer tires. I'll need to get my current summer's replaced soon and I'm looking for a quiet summer tire.

What are all the g35 Calgarians have and do you like them and are you looking at some other summer tires?

Thanks!!

CB

I replaced my Bridgestones Potenza RE050 with Hankook Ventus V12 Evos and am pretty happy with them. The Hankooks are cheaper, quieter and ride a little better as well while offering a more grip than the Bridgestones.

If money isn't an issue for you I would consider the new Michelin Super Sports. I have read nothing but good things about them!

I got Hankook V12 Evos as well. Im happy with them. They do have a bit of sidewall flex, and it makes the handling response somewhat dulled a bit.

I recommend buying from Tire Rack and go get them installed at Urban X.

Check out the reviews on Tire Rack that will work with your driving style.

I have Nitto Invos and really like them, also liked the Toyo T1R, and I had Falken 452... Worst tires ever the side wall separating is common with them.

I got a pretty decent deal on my BS RE970AS Poles at Blaskin & Lane at Westbrook. Middle-budget, high-performance all-season tire, reasonably quiet, handle great in the dry and are outstanding in the wet.

+1 on AS tires - I'll never put summer tires on another car. Better to have a three season tire around here, especially since it can snow in August. You don't really give much performance up and you gain smoothness and wet traction.

I have Yoko Avid Envigor tires for my stock 19inch sport rimes, they are awesome very good treadlife. I got them from Country Tire in NE Calgary.

The Kal-Tire in the north east (3314-32nd st NE) is really good, the Manager Chad Foley is a great guy and knows his stuff when it comes to performance tires. I have become friends with him over the years after buying lots of tires from him and running into him at local car meets. If you tell him Gord sent you he might hook you up with a bit of a deal. Chad is the only guy I let touch my HRE wheels even when I was in Sylvan and he transferred to Calgary I would drive down to get my tires on the G done by him.....yes I am OCD when it comes to those wheels.

Agreed!

Hankooks are a great summer performance tire for those concerned with price, and if you don't have a problem spending more on tires, PSS are even better!

Tires are (obviously) a very personal choice, and it's hard to get advice from others -- everybody likes what they bought in most cases. Read reviews on Tirerack and compare to your car/driving style/type of driving...then buy the ones with the coolest-looking tread pattern, LOL!

Thank you for everyone's input.

I've decided on the Hankook V12s.

KillaMike, how do you find the Envigors compare to summer performance tires for daily driving? any loss in performance?

i've considered getting all seasons for summer too, to get a bit more mileage out of the tires.......especially since i don't go to the track.
