Ready to buy 2005 g35x

After spending too much time browsing these forums, and not buying my own G, i've decided to take the plunge. I'm going to buy a G35x, Twilight Blue, or Black, with the tan interior, premium package, no nav.

I visited Brad at the Oakville dealership for a drive, and just saw Barbara at Woodchester. Brad didn't seem very motivated, while Barbara would barely let me leave without buying one. That being said, she claimed that she would have little room to move off the MSRP, maybe $800-900. She and her coworker also said that there was some sort of new Canada-wide Infiniti dealer group which effectively sets a floor on how much dealers can discount. Is that true? Sounds like bull#$% to me.

Im ready to seal the deal, but would prefer that I don't get hosed, so all advice would be appreciated. Oh, I also have a 98 jetta to trade in, which I would like to do in the simplest manner possible (it's not worth much anyways, maybe $5-6k. Thanks in advance, your future G brother.

I am no expert but that definitely sounds like bull#$% to me. I just got a 05 6mt coupe got around $2,000 off, and they are still making huge money on the car. Read some more in the Canadian section and you will see some prices of what other people are paying.

Congats on the future G35X -- a fine machine that you'll enjoy.

I've not heard of the Infiniti Canada wide group, but I have a friend in the business and I'll check it out.

I had even worse luck

I am ready and want to buy a "Base" 2005 G35x. Here's the crappy pricing they gave me:

44387 Starting
+ 185 Doc
+ Air / Tire Tax

= $44669

Considering Infiniti states $44,067 + Air / Tire Tax we are over MSRP!

They would not go down and clainmed this was a great deal. I asked for $500 below Infiniti MSRP. They would still be making an AWESOME deal. They wouldn't budge. To bad we only have one local dealer in 500 km. I had to walk.

Perhaps no G for me

Or I may have to take a 1500 km drive to save $2000 (which I really don't have time for). Looks like I'll buy elsewhere....

I got my G35X with premium and no navi for about $1200 off MRSP from alta infinity. The sales manager Matthew is very knowledgeable and very easy to deal with.

Hope you got yours soon.

BTW, I think the best features of 05 vs 04 is intelligence key and the much improved taillights.

If you are near Guelph Infiniti and can't get at least $1500 off MRSP on a base G35X give them a call.

Thx for the reply everyone.

In point form:

--Jv, thx for comments. While i don't think they're making a killing after getting the dealer invoice from car cost canada, they do have some room. Bottom line is there's just over 4k between dealer invoice and MSRP. Im looking to get done around the middle.

--Colin, thx for looking into that. I'm sure she has overstated the facts, but I do believe there is informal discussions/policy as to what is an acceptable discount for each model. Either way, I know I won't get 4k off, and I won't be happy with less than 2k. Oh, and I went to Dixie tonight to price them out and have them look at my trade-in. They had the m35x, black on black, and it looks great. Rosewood looks much better in it then in the g, IMHO. It's a big car!

--Bailey, where u at? What dealer u talking to? You should be able to get it shipped for <700 anywhere in Canada. I've shipped cars a few times, speaking from experience. If the dealer isn't willing to deliver it for free, and is showing you pricing like that, shop around and you will do better. Feel free to PM me for more details.

--2005g35x, i agree, i like those 2 improvements as well. I definitely like the 2005 sedan more than the 2004. I just wish i could get the 5 spoke wheels in the x version. While not trying to rub it in, I'll probably benefit from a lower price due to buying it this time of year, but you have the benefit of driving it while I'm driving my current beater!

--Bottom line, I've been shown 2k off the MSRP and an OK price for my trade-in, from 2 different dealers. There might be a bit more room left, but if i really

Sorry, hit the wrong key, posted before I was done. So from where i left off...

but if i really wanted to nickel and dime, I would sell my trade-in privately and make an extra K (i could get 5k privately, if i fixed a couple of things). I probably will just hit the bid i'm being shown for the trade-in, and be happy enough with giving up a bit, but also avoiding some headaches.

If anyone is in the same boat i am in, or rather have been in, re: buying a new g35x in the GTA and has any questions, feel free to pm me. I've been to 3 dealers, and one private guy (the private guy is very competitive, its where I bought my first 2 cars).

Oh, and I sort of thought it would be funny, and maybe to my disadvantage if Barb, or Brad or Sean at Dixie read my comments, and could broker me accordingly. But...I guess if they are working it enough that they spend time on these chat boards, then they deserve the info. Thx all, and I'll post some pics when I get it.

FWIW...
Don't know about any "dealer group"
but heard from a friend at a dealership, that Infiniti
is discouraging deep discounts.
