Passenger door lock not responding to fob?

Yesterday we were headed out and my daughter got into the car before I unlocked it. I I tried my door, it was locked. Then I used the fob to unlock it. I used the fob a few more times and it only worked on the drivers door.

The passenger's lock gets hit with something when the fob sends a signal, but doesn't shift to lock or unlock, just moves as if something within the panel is hitting it but not activating.

The good news is that I can manually move the toggle like lock switch into lock/unlock position and it works. What a hassle.

In summary, the door lock will work if I physically move it from within the car to unlock or the passenger needs to lock the door before they shut it.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

I have same thing going on. Once in a while it actually does work so I don't think it's anything electrical, but most likely a lubrication problem with lock linkage. I have not taken door apart to investigate. But I do not expect it to be a major issue, most likely as I said a lubrication issue or worn out plastic part that causes linage to catch on something.

I'll live with it for a while and see if it heals itself. Thanks

I took the door apart today and got the actuator out and took it apart as well.
My verdict is that it's a lost cause.

It's a very complex operation. There is a little electric motor with a screw on it. When it spins it turns the gear that activates the complex network of different linkages to make lock work. When I took it apart I tested motor separately and determined that it would not spin enough to make the lock work. Sometimes it does, other times it does not.
Procedure to replace the little motor is very complex as it will involve allot of soldering and very intricate work with small wires that connect to motor and switch.
Best way to get all this done is by installing an aftermarket actuator

Thanks for the link. I read the 7 pages and will watch the video tomorrow. I may just pm Josh and get two kits. Then ask my mechanic to watch the procedure and do the fix.

Watched the videos this morning, seems doable, even for me. Anyone else need this done, or done this in Southern Ontario? Wouldn't mind getting together and doing it together, or even have an experienced person do this for/with me. Very willing to compensate you for your time and efforts.

I've sent Josh a pm to see if I can get the kit, but he hasn't been on the forum for a while.

Did you get it from Josh or from the link you provided? Too bad you're so far away. LMK how it goes and thanks again for showing me the path.

I am also having the same issue with the passenger door look. It just started recently. Like Joker said, I may live with it for the time being.

Yeah, it's a hassle, but I'll live with for a while too. I may get everything I need and have them on hand for when I get fed up.

got the selinoid today.
There is a bracket included with it, but no wires. I will try to install it this weekend if I have time.
I'll report back once I do to let you guys know if you require any additional materials to install this.

So the bracket that came with it absolute crap. It cracks and snaps when trying to bend it. So just like everyone else I needed to fabricate my own bracket in order to install it.
I obviously over engineered it.
On the other hand, I think you could find something at your local hardware store to fabricate bracket out of to make install simpler and not go all ***** out like I did and tig weld it.
I'm pretty sure that in case of nuclear explosion cockroaches and my bracket will be the only things that will survive.
