build thread
Ive just purchased a Vortech full kit for my G
I plan on making few changes to it when I install it
1) instead of the blocked location for the A/A intercooler i will be using an air to water unit
2) instead of the aux fuel pump i will put in a Walboro
to be continued

Ive received my vortech non revup complete kit and everything is there and I have questions
1) reviewing the instructions i don't see anything about assembling the cog belt idler pulley so any pics or diagrams would be greatly appreciated
2) i have the Paxton black box as mentioned i the instructions P# 5A001-353 BUT...
I also received a larg black carton labeled Unidchip with a hand written sticker 5A003-350 containing a Q+ 0148D silver device and a slighty larger black device with no real model number except it has unichip PNP technology. There is nothing about the unichip boxes in the instructions but they themselves came with instructions.
do i use both systems ? or just one of them ?

step 1) checked all the parts against the supplied inst sheets
turns out i had the wrong fuel pressure regulator.... it was resolved quickly by DaSilva Racing and Vortech
step 2) - 2 hrs - installed the "black box" aka the fuel and spark control unit
Most of the diagrams etc were correct. the pic dosent show the addl fuse box that my car has but, other than mis reading the orientation of the ecm plug pin out, it went smoothly.
I took the extra time to solder and heat shrink all the connections.
I didnt attach the vacuum hose
the car started and ran fine once it "found itself" (I had disconnected the battery)

spent 3 hrs today
I fought with the tubing from the throttle body to the inter cooler
nothing lines up
i finally got it to fit... sorta...
then i fought with the main bracket
the large longer bolt supplied doesn't seem long enough... and the toothed jack shaft pulley is really close to the piping

swapped in a Bosch recycling valve instead of the BPV that comes in the kit...
now its dead quiet till i shift under boost... then its makes a soft whoosh that is barely noticible... LOVE IT
