Call FX in Markham -- I've had several cars tinted there... they use a computer cut-out machine for the film, and they use quality materials with metalic content -- not just the cheap dye. They do lots of high end cars, and they do lots of dealer work too. Very professional results!

Lifetime warranty.

By the way, do you know of a good mechanic in the GTA?

Tint Shop

I got my tinting done at FX Auto about two years ago on my G35C '03 and no problems at all. Very happy with the job.

No air bubbles, no defects, no peeling. Besides, you get a very good warranty.

FX Auto services many car clubs.

Anything in the Toronto area? Markham is pretty far.

How long does it usually take?

If you're out in the west end...

I did my '95 240SX at a place called Tintmaster back in '97 - had the car for 8 years. They do awesome work and their prices are great. I did a 22% solar tint all the way around - lifetime warranty, never had a problem.

Since getting my '04 Silverstone G35 coupe, I've been back and he did a real nice 33% solar tint all around. I went lighter since I didn't want any hassles with police and such and I learned that tints look darker on light cars (my 240 was dark purple so I could pull a 22% off).

Tintmaster is located at 401 and Dixie (just north):
6033 Shawson Drive #9 Mississauga, Ontario L5T-1H8
Phone: (905) 670-5181 or 1-800-670-TINT
www.tintmaster.com

Talk to James Formosa - they've been around forever and they really know their stuff.

Bottom line is this though, make sure you're getting a foil tint, most of the cheaper ones are made with plastic film and will discolour over time. And taking the crappy tint off later is a huge waste of money for what you thought you saved initially.

That's my two cents,
Al

What do you mean by solar tint? How much does everyone pay? Is $200 on the high side or about right?

As I understand it...

solar tint refers to the fact that the foil in the tint blocks out UV rays and as a result, not only makes your car darker, but helps to keep the car from heating up at an exponential rate.

Do you think I can get a better deal than $200 for a sedan? If so let me know some ball park figures?

Having tinted a coupe...

I couldn't tell you what a good price is for a sedan. Just give James a call and he'll give you a quote no question. He's a good guy too, answers all your questions. I paid $280 for mine (not including the sunroof).

Good luck with that,
Al

Any less than CDN $200 and you should question the quality of the materials or the experience of the shop. I'd expect between $225 and $250 for all windows with a premium tint (with metallic content, not just dye).
