Can you describe the sound? Is affecting the shifts (slow??)? How long does the noise last? A couple of seconds/split second? Does it happen if you use the manual shift?

I really doubt it's the transmission, but it's going to be tough to diagnose without specifics.

Does it only happen as you start & then it's OK after that?

If so, what you are hearing is the ABS system initializing.
It's normal for the system to do this.

That's nasty, if that's the sound you're hearing, I would definitely make an appointment with your dealer. Is it that loud? Try driving it in manual mode, the next time you think it might happen. Hold off on shifting to second until out of the 'expected' window that this normally occurs.

Another suggestion would be to meet up with someone that has a G and compare. I'm in Kitchener, but in Toronto on Sunday so if I can be of any help, just let me know.

Intgr8r, I think I know the sound you're referring to. I have noticed what sounds like a slight 'klunk' (bad word for it), when pulling away after the car has sat for awhile. It seems to be more prevalent if I reverse the car and leave the wheel turned slightly when parking. When pulling out, after letting the car sit for a number of hours, I occasionally hear this sound. It reminds me of a bad CV joint type of sound, but it's very momentary and never occurs while driving. I'll have to pay more attention to it, but I never considered the ABS normallizing as a possibility.

I'll give it a listen at noon, but that sounds similar.

Best is to leave it a the dealer for a COLD start check, as the noise only happens when the car is cold - Sorry wish I could recommend a dealer for you.

But try this for starters....wait a few moments before actually accelerating let the trans fluid circulate. And the other thing is where exactly is the noise the loudest left side, right side, rear, middle?

Good luck
