Can't Park the G on an incline slope in SNOW!!

Posted this same questions in the General Forum. Just thought I should ask you guys if any of you have experienced the same thing.

I tried to park my G on Saturday night when we had about 10cms of wet snow in GTA. The slope was tilted upwards, not very steep at all. I couldn't get my G to park even with the foot brake on!! It kept on sliding backwards, so I finally had to give up and park it on the side street. The same night, I parked my parents' Camry at the same spot without its hand brake, no problem there!! So what does it tell me? I can even park my Z3 there with hand brakes on. Has any of you experienced the same? I definitly will ask my dealer to give me an explanation AND a fix next Monday when I go for my oil service.

Hey Stalker, I haven't had that problem with my G. Is it possible your all season tires are worn down a lot? Or maybe they were hot when you parked? Maybe tire pressures not quite right? That's strange.......

That sounds very strange to me too....it should have nothing to do with the fact that it's a RWD unless the slope was icy from something, like you spinning as you go up the slope. Even then it should have enough traction to just sit there. I've never even heard of that here in Edmonton and we usually get more snow than you guys in GTA

Re: Can't Park the G on an incline slope in SNOW!!

yeah, I know. None of the cars I drove before had any trouble like this and that's why I am troubled by it. Don't think my tires are worn out after only 9000 kms, given the fact that my wife isn't an agressive drive that takes sharp turns or tail spins. Even I don't do that and I only drive on weekends at most.

The reason that leads me to think that there is something wrong with it is because if I press the regular brake, the car obviously don't slide, but isn't putting on parking break + Foot brake the same as pressing the regular brakes? Mechanically, is there any difference? Maybe the regular brakes is applied to all 4 wheels when pressed but the parking brakes only applies to the driving wheels, which are the rear 2. In any case, this shouldn't be happening.

Stalker, you're right- pressing the regular brake (servise brake) is different than applying the emergency brake - which only applies braking to rear wheels. Braking should be best when you apply the regular brake which applies braking to all wheels. But it's still possible to slide down a slippery slope depending on conditions. If there's anything wrong with the brakes I think you'll know about it. In any case if there's any doubt, talk to the tech at the shop and he'll check them out.
