In the hospital! (warning: disturbing pics attached)

Going down highway 8 towards the 401 from Waterloo last month... Guy blows a tire a few cars ahead of me. Long story short, 2 rear end collisions later this is what resulted.. $14k in damage! It didn't even look THAT bad. Still in the shop but I hope to get her back in a week or two.

I need to find some replacement wheels now although only one is damaged.. anyone have any experience driving with different wheels on either side of the car? Or maybe I'll just splurge and replace them all.

Anyway, thought I'd share some pics...

I'm sorry but I highly doubt you'll get your car back in just 2 weeks, not to mention I think your car looks salvaged.

Ouch, I hope you are okay. Man, that looks pretty bad.

As for driving with different wheels, are you talking about different tires on either side or different rims and tires? From what I know, as long as you have the same tires on the front or on the back you should be okay. You cannot have two different tires on the front / back.

Ouch TripleQ......I wondered why we hadn't heard much from you lately.
So sorry for the accident....glad you came thru ok, pity about the G but maybe they can fix her up.
You sure it's not totalled?
By your post, it sounds like they've been working on it for a while and part way thru already.
Where is the work being done? Guelph? and where did the accident happen? down the 401 toward GTA?
Damn that's tough bro.... hope you're ok and you get the G back soon.

Yeh, as far as mixing wheels either side to side or front to rear, it's not the best idea......will effect handling and safety big time, not to mention possibly VDC and ABS.

If you think of it later, please add your name to the list of local members.

Best of luck and hope to meet up in the spring.

That's a nasty looking car right now so must have been quite an accident. Hope you are all right. Good luck getting the car back together.

DAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMN!!! HOLLY MOLLY CRAPOLA!!!!

I hope you are okay man... Damn the damage, the carnage is worse than mine and it cost me 16Gs to get it done right!! Looking at the pictures it looks like at least in the low 20s Hopefully, there isn't any structural damage or mechanical damage to the G that could upset the handling and comfort of the car. When my G was in the shop they took almost a month to bring it back to its prestine state. If insurance is covering everything make sure you nitpick the bodyshop to getting it done right.

Good Luck!!

Karim

The accident was on Dec 10th so they've had it since then. Over a month now.

It looks much worse then it was, because I only got the pics after they started taking off all the panels and the front. Only one corner was damaged, the other headlight was actually ok. Only a very small dent to the frame which they said was fixable.

Everyone was ok in the accident.. no airbags went off so it wasn't that bad I guess. I was on the brakes hard up until the impact so it wasn't like I was going full speed when I hit the other car.

It's actually being fixed at Waterloo Honda (insurance co had a list of recommended shops..?) but Nissan is doing some of the work as well. Some friends have had good experiences with Honda so I think it should be ok.. we'll see how it turns out though!

Well the exact same thing happened to me with the front end of the car being damage see here:

3.5 tonne BROADSIDE!!

Uhm you as a insurance holder should not be told by the insurance company on where you should have your car fixed. Sure my insurance gave me a list of recommended repairers, but I never went to them at all. I kindly asked the dealer of where it should be taken given the age of the car at the time I had my incident about 3 weeks after getting the then brand new '05 G35. From a warranty perspective I made sure that every part on the parts list was "GENUINE" OEM Infiniti parts not aftermarket of which the insurance wants you to use. Of course if you need repairs at the dealership, I can almost guarantee they have a right to refuse warranty work given you have installed sub-par or not Infiniti approved parts on the car.

Just be careful of what you are going to pay for even if it is the insurance company.
