Rust Proofing

I'm just about to pick-up my new G35C... I want to have it rustproofed but the dealer wants a fortune. I was thinking about using Krown Rustproofing which is recommended by the APA. Any thoughts on rustproofing and Krown specifically would be appreciated....

Re: Rust Proofing

I read recently that aftermarket rust proofing isn't really necessary on modern cars- it's just a money maker. In fact, they said that some rust proofing processes can actually work against the factory treatments. Personally, I had mine done by a reputable company just for the peace of mind.

Re: Rust Proofing

Tom, I've used 'KROWN' and generally like it. Haven't used it recently but when I get my Coupe I think I'll get it done. The only problem with it is it'll drip for like days after it's done. Last time I had it done I had to put newspapers on the garage floor to catch the drips but I believe in it and like you said - it's highly recommended with a good guarantee. Good Luck......

Re: Rust Proofing

I have used Krown for many years on my 1995 SHO (R.I.P.). Being a Ford Taurus it was a "must" to rustproof them. The only problem I noticed was that the rubber around the trunk and hood would swell up due to the oil. I am afraid to do the Infiniti since it does have a lot of rubber around the bottom and sides of the doors as well. If Krown would guarrantee (in writing) that the rubber would not swell, I would consider doing the Infiniti.

Anyone else experience the rubber swelling?

Ivory Pearl, Premium, Aero, Graphite Leather, everything but Nav.

Re: Rust Proofing

Vdoalamo, Thanks for the tip on the rubber swelling. I hadn't concidered that and will check it out before getting mine done.
Besides Rustcheck, Krown is the only alternative around here (in Southern Ontario).............Later

Re: Rust Proofing

i just read in a auto magazine, (i think it was motor trend) that the rust protection/diamond coat can actually damage your car if it is not applied properly. the only thing i opted for was the under coat to dampen road noise. if you get the rust protection be aware that they drill/cut holes in your car. infiniti's seem to be built pretty well to me so i think the packages are just cash grabs.

Re: Rust Proofing

OHHH MY GOD... they drill and cut holes from Diamond Kote.

Hmmmm, I wonder .. the only reason why I went with this, is this is Infiniti's own lifetime garanteed protection the promote.

Hmmm let me call my dealer and find out..
I keep you posted on what I find out.

Take care
