Radar Detector Defeats all RDD!!

For those so inclined..... some interesting developments;

Info on the newest radar detector from Beltronics.
It is the latest detector on the market that "cannot" be detected by any radar detector detectors (OPP's, Metro, Peel, etc..).

Since they will not ship to Ontario.....(you know why )
(see this post for shipping LINK)

everytime they come out with something new... the cops find a new way to counter-act it. that's how all these guys make money... keep pushing new products out. plus what do u think a cop is gonna do when he see's one of those things sitting under your front mirror? to be quite honest i don't find the cop situation up here as bad as the u.s.. i have never received a speeding ticket in ontario yet (knock on wood). in fact, i think u have a higher chance of getting a ticket with these things because it makes u feel like an invincible superman against the cops for speeding situations, so u let your guard down and bam... oh oh what happend? just my .02

What's the penalty if you get caught using one of these in Ontario? Is it just confiscation? Or do you get a ticket and points off?

Ian, the technology on both sides has come a long way since I had my last one - an Escort years ago. Laws changed here as well so I gave it up.

I'm interested in the STI. The major concern I have is visibility of the unit. From what I see it is a standard interior windshield mount which isn't very stealth. Is that right?

Stealth mount would be an issue for sure.

LOL....it was years ago that I had one, when I had an XR4Ti
(most here won't know what that is );
I used to have an RD on the dash with an empty kleenex box over it for cammo.

Deane,
you've been holding out- I didn't know you had an ExRatee (my buddy thought XR4Ti was actually XRATi the first time he saw one, so the mismonicker stuck throughout the life of that very cool Merkur. Nothin could launch like one of those babies.

Ontario, Canada is one of the worst places to own a detector- the OPP purchase the latest and greatest to detect detectors. It seems that they are more willing to buy new gear, or upgrade existing gear, than any other state/province force. Valentine, for one, will not guarantee against counterdetection, for On.

IMHO, at link is the foremost authority on detectors. Most comprehensive and technical tests I've come across.

Cheers,
D
