Angry Back Off!! Keep Bikers Safe!!

To the idiot that owns a White G35 coupe driving on April 16 around 2 to 3 pm!!

Me and my GF were riding our motorcycles on the 401 going east and I was the lead in our ride. It was a normal ride and we kept to the pace of the ongoing traffic, I rode in my Yamaha R1 and she had her Honda CBR 600. Just passing Avenue Road on the express lane of the 401 I noticed a white G35 coupe in the middle lane. It was nice and clean, but really nothing to scream about. So we changed lanes to be in the passing lane and continued on. As I was passing I looked into the G35 and took note of the driver and passenger thinking it could be one of ours, but I didn't think much of it. As we were heading to the DVP, the G35 made some some lane changes into our lane being behind us as we continued on to the DVP northbound.

I still in the lead and my GF behind me, we kept the pace of the traffic and we weren't pushing or tailgating any cars, just a normal ride. I made sure my GF was behind me at all times and ensuring she was still safe. As we pulled off on to Highway 7 and proceeding to a near by coffee shop to rest our behinds, my GF was quite upset with the driver of the white G35 that was driving very close behind her. she mentioned the driver of the vehicle was just on her tail and she tried to slow the person down, but the driver just kept on her tail. I was just fuming and here I am with my rant.

BACK %^& )(*@ OFF!!

You people don't understand, we don't have the metal cage of a car or the convienence of a seatbelt or airbag. HELL!! we don't have air conditioning, yet you consider us as menaces of the road. Well sunshine its the other way around really.. Cars and trucks pose more of a danger to anyone than we are. Sure there may be small amount of lunatic bikers insisting on the hooliganism of the mentally challenged. But we bikers need just as much respect as other 4 wheeled or more vehicles. Bikes can out corner, out accelerate, out brake and out run nearly all cars with the exception of a few exotics that you or I will never see on any given road. In this situation it was clearly lack of responsibility of the driver to ensure safety is adhered to.

If we were to suddenly come to a stop or put our brakes on hard, my GF would have been hit from behind, run over and at the same time her bike would have crashed into mine injuring or killing either of us. The driver and passenger of the G35 would have sustained at the most the blast of their airbag deploying on their face, but there maybe two bodies on the road with no possible life signs. If there was a result in death, the most the driver would get would be a wreckless charge and I call that a cheap murder for ending someones life prematurely. Personally I would see this as a vehicular mansalughter charge if you asked me, but that is me. I enjoy riding my bike just as much as I love driving my G if not more. I am usually pretty tolerant bad drivers and in most cases and usually don't worry about it much, but this just got me going.

The views and freedom on a bike is definately an eye opener and you wouldn't believe the silly and dangerous things you see on the roads and can't imagine how some drivers have gotten their licenses and maybe they got them from Cracker Jack boxes on sale at the local Wal-Mart or something. I have had many instances where drivers do not look in their blind spots and cut me off, tailgate me in traffic and there have been a couple of instances where I have been run off the road because of other drivers not being careful. I have even had McDonald fries thrown at me, becuase the idiot couldn't find a garbage can to throw their trash out. Since I caught the garbage, I simply followed the person and when we came to a stop, I asked him to roll down his window and I thew his garbage back at him and screamed at him in front of his family.

Just PURE ARROGANCE!!

So if you see bikers on the road give them plenty of space, be alert around you and if you see some lunatic on a bike, either move to another lane or slow down and

PLEASE DON'T BECOME PART OF THE ACCIDENT EQUATION, WE ARE MORE FRAGILE THAN YOU THINK!!

BTW... I do have your license plate written down on a piece of paper somewhere and have a good mind to report your driving habits to the OPP if needed.

Thanks for the rant.

Karim

i dont' think you need to be a former biker to understand how much risk is involved with riding a bike, and for someone to tail a bike under any circumstance is just plain irresponsible.

I'm glad this time it went without incident!

As a bike rider for many years I can relate to the different state of mind and awareness level you have on the road. Unfortunately not all car drivers can relate to the differences with two wheels or even care to. Tailgaters are extremely annoying and dangerous even with four wheels.

Stay safe and keep your feet on the pegs.

Bikers were everywhere when I lived in San Francisco - your post brings up some important points. I definitely agree with you on this one. Back off bikers fellas. Be safe out there.

I was downed by a Volvo sedan that literally turned right in front of me on an open road. I was the only thing moving on the road - they only thing to look out for. The guy driving the car was a student at the University and told the cops he did not see me. After they checked him for sobriety, they realized that he was loaded with whatever illegal substance he was taking at that time. Point being - there are bad drivers everywhere that have no clue how they put others at risk on the road. I am barely able to start working out again after gaining 10-15 lbs.
Stay safe out there!

Thats true, and I have mentioned there is a small population of bikers with the mentality they own the roads when its really nobody owns the road and we have to share it. If a biker is tailgating you don't react with an action that could escalate the situation. Just change lanes, its easy to do and if the biker still believes to take safety upon himself and cause an accident either injuring or killing themselves then you have done your part in keeping safe. Everyone has to responsible for road safety not just you and don't expect somebody else to do it for you, because it will lead to an accident.

Last week on my way home, I saw a CHP officer on a bike so I moved over and after he passed me he gave me a little peace sign with his left hand. Two other bikers I moved over for did this as soon as they passed me.

What's weird is that during an open stretch of freeway just after LAX I saw two bikers coming up in the #2 lane. One of them keeps on going. The other, in a gsx slows down to 75 mph and stays next to me for about 10-15 seconds. Then, he stands up starts bouncing the front of his bike and then does a wheelie and leaves me behind. What does that mean in biketiquette?

The guy with the GSXR was showboating his small private parts to you!! Personally you may see people like that and they don't realize a small mistake in the wheelie could have him backwards and skidding along th road at high-speed. No this is definately not biketiquette, just plain stupidity.

Yes.. lane splitting as we call it is illegal and extremely dangerous!! When I was in the UK, I rented a bike for cruising the country side with my buddies. In the UK they allow lane splitting and the drivers are more aware of bikers there than here in Canada and maybe the US for that fact. Bikers there are alot more aggressive there and certainly, I hated doing the lane splitting, not because I wasn't accustomed to it, it was just plain dangerous and had to keep up with the gang. I even lane split between two cops on a busy roadway and thinking I was going to get busted. Sure enough, I wasn't touched at all.

They allow it in Cal too, that's why I asked. I always thought it was a really stupid thing to do.
