Canadian MSRP Shelby Cobra GT500

I thought I'd pass on this info, one of the SVT dealers today called me, and the Canadian MSRP has been released for the Shelby GT500, and I was pleasantly surprised: $51k for the coupe. The SVT manager said that they will most likely add another 10k 'market adjustment'. Still not that bad for a 500hp monster.

Currently there are 60 people on the waiting list at this dealership. I heard most SVT dealers will be getting a maximum of 15 Shelby's, coming in one per month.

That's one hell of a steal for 500+ hp. Keeping my fingers crossed that 45 people on that list are just tire kicking.....

You could build 500hp in a Mustang for less than that. Much less.

Also, I believe that Motor Trend is predicting the end of SVT soon, so this *may* be the model to get, if you can lock it away in a safe until retirement. I'm sure the return is going to be better than any RRSP...

I like the car. Unfortunately, I'll just have to be happy with a drawring of it...

BTW, it's Shelby GT500; Cobra is an entirely different animal.

I don't know about the GT500. I'm not too hot on Ford products in general, but with the "market adjustment", I'd rather just build a GT500-beater out of a GT.

Back when the announcement was made (in 2005), the released info did in fact call it the Ford Cobra GT500:

http://www.stangnet.com/2005-Mustang...00-by-SVT.html

http://media.ford.com/newsroom/featu...?release=20294

I personally haven't seen info saying that it's not going to have Cobra in the name, but I haven't spent any time looking for it either.

You sure you weren't thinking of this:

They'll never live that one down...

Sounds like you're serious, man. I wish you luck. You can be many will not end up buying.

I'd love one too. I had a white '68 GT500 convert and loved it. It had mega ponies and torque, and I wish I had it today......

Keep us posted.

LOL!!!

I tried finding specs on it and couldn't. It's gotta be a tough car to restore, with such little info out there about it

I guess they're even trying to kill that thing on the internet as well.

They don't have to kill any info, it does it all by it self! ... no body interested
My friend had one and it was a POS ..... rust everywhere.
