Oh, they've got a video of it, and it looks great. very readable in sunlight, much more so than the current screen. the problem is that the one for sale is based off a Lilliput, and does not fit in the G35 housing, so this group buy thread is an attempt to get 10 people together to send in their screens and have them modified for the transflective screen. Again, though, the company that does the upgrades has stated they are not doing any more picemeal/small group upgrades, but only selling them in bulk to mp3car.com, so the odds of this group buy working are low.

However, there is hope that mp3car and GodofCPU will be selling a G35 housing with the upgraded screen sometime in the future. This is what I am really waiting for, although if the oppurtunity to upgrade the screen came up, I would be good with that, as well.

Ah silly me, after just scanning the thread I thought that GB would be for that Liliput. I should have read the thread before posting. Dave thanks for explanation.

I am very interested in upgrading my Xenarc monitor. Any estimated price for upgrade? Thanks

Again, I hold out very little hope for the upgrade option, but if I remember correctly, the initial ones that they actually did were about 300-400.

How different can the Lilliput be? I'm tempted to just try it but was hoping some other fool would beat me to it...

Actually I found the following in a mp3car.com thread - looks like the FPD group will perform the upgrade on the Xenarc (I think):

http://fpdgroup.com/samples.php

Here is the mp3car thread: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...arc#post799372

$250 for the transflective upgrade + $150 for a compatible touchscreen

Looks like they aren't really in business anymore, as there are a good number of errors on their website, and if you click on the "Buy It Now", you get a paypal error.

Kind of shady.

I really want a transflective screen, and I am willing to pay for it, but I'm not willing to gamble my money.

what's the deal with mp3car.com now?
I was looking at getting this: http://store.mp3car.com/ProductDetai...Code=DSH%2D009
but I haven't a clue of how this works. Would I need a carputer or is this thing come with all the hardware and software needed for navi, touchscreen, etc...

Thats just the screen and housing. You still need all the rest of the hardware and all the software,

For a full solution, not with the screen you listed abouve, but a retractable screen, you would go with this

If you want a carputer with the screen you listed, you would get that screen, one of these systems, Streetdeck, some sort of GPS solution and probably some other pieces of hardware and software that I missed.

Building a carPC is somehwat more of an involved hobby than an easy plug and play solution. I would recommend reading up (alot) on the forums at mp3car.com before you ask more questions.

yea. sorry got a little post happy and insomnia. thanks for the answering all my questions caelric. i been doin a little bit of reading and building a carpc is really out of my league. i just want a stock looking navigation solution. i will probably go wtih something like the mac mini or aopen pandora for a quick in stall. basically something i could set up at home and connect it to a touch screen. unless there is a way i could get a navigation unit like the garmin nuvi and connect it to the touchscreen. just a thought, prolly doesn't work like that though.
