Looks really good man! Makes me kinda wish I went that direction but I had to keep the stock radio and didn't wanna deal with going without a headunit. Where are you gonna end up putting your pc? I'm looking at the upper glovebox and have my gps puck mounted under the analog clock and ac display. I haven't connected it yet so I'm not sure if i'm gonna get a good signal or what.

I may end up putting it in the trunk and just put a slim drive DVD along with a usb hub in the upper glove box where the Nav was...still debating.

Mobo, power supply, and hard drive mounted!

It's been a bit of delay with easter and other stuff coming up but I'm finally nearing completion. I got my reverse camera in and got everything mounted in the upper storage compartment. I fit a mini itx mobo, m2 atx power supply, and a regular 2.5 laptop hard drive with a bit of dremel work. Barring no issues I should have everything put in by this weekend.

Hey thanks man. You could always go the direction of hpric with the touchscreen in the headunit area. There's a user on mp3car (nexson I believe) that does really good fabrication work and would certainly get you taken care of. It'd definitely be a lot cheaper to go that direction rather than the housing -- which is about $10 worth of parts for $340.. blah.

Here's a link though to some of his work.

That would be a good route, but I am like you and would like to keep the stock head unit.

That guys work is nice though.

I need to start going to Mp3car.com again, I haven't been there for a year or more.

Edit: I only looked at a few pictures in that thread, now I looked at them all. That guy is really, really good.

Well I got everything installed and for the most part everything is working. I'm having some issues with USBs coming out of hibernation so I troubleshooting this today but it should be a quick fix (bios update should take care of it)

That's great man! I have mine put in and running but I didn't dremel enough space for all of my ports.. so the sound plug is being squeezed out. I'm only getting sound from one side.. so I'm going to try and replace that with a smaller cable. It's definitely a tight fit back there and almost wonder if I should've just installed it in the trunk by the bose amp in that space. The rear view camera is nice coming out of reverse though.

Have you tried using xport or anything for your usb issues? I remember having issues before but xport has an area where you can select usb devices and they will re-enable themselves coming out of hibernation.

I'm using Xport but I believe all that does is split your GPS port so RR and Iguidance can both have their own GPS ports assigned. RR uses it to read MPH, Compass and a couple other plugins I believe.

Yeah xport splits your signal but he added the hibernation feature as well. You should have a list of usb devices under your split com ports that lets you check and uncheck things. The ones that are checked are re-initialized once windows has resumed.

Doh!!! I saw the list of usb devices there but didn't even bother to check any of them. Will have to take care of this as soon as I leave the office so I can see if it fixes my problem. Thanks for the info

Finally got my sound issue worked out (ended up using a dac) and everything installed. I'll see if I can borrow a digital camera or something and take some better pictures and a video.

Good to hear you got it working. I'm getting some engine noise but I think its the cheap RCA's I'm using. I'm gonna go buy some good shielded ones on Saturday and see if that makes a difference. Here are some pics for now
