Here's a pic of the backup camera being tested. Just ordered the pyle brand backup cam for $35 on amazon. Looks pretty good and can't wait to install in my car.

Hey Dsballer question.. do you just run media through your touchscreen ie: itunes, wmp, navi etc, or does the cd player work together with the screen? also, wondering do they have programs out there to attach HVAC controls through touchscreen? i'm wondering on a vertical touchscreen setup that would fill the dash(radio, cd, a/c)area and then for the pop up navi screen whichever digital gauges i end up adding. Just wondering if theres some interface out there that will function with the a/c. any ways thanks

Sorry for the late reply. I just run everything through the touchscreen by loading the mp3s/AVIs onto the hard drive. The Nav portion is a program that's loaded on the pc too.

I'm not sure if there are HVAC controls for our particular car but I know I've seen this done on other people's projects so there may be one developed.

Although the carpc frontend (Centrafuse) has volume controls, I opted to keep the stock head unit so that I could control the volume there instead. I had a carpc before that was only controlled by the touchscreen and I did not like it.

Let me know if you have ay questions if you decide to build.

damn, I am ridiculously tempted to put one of these together, in fact almost exactly what you did. How hard was it to retrofit the mp3car housing to the 05? I have an 06 and this is exactly what I want to pull off.

I had to cut the plastic a bit. The biggest difference is the lid to the centre cubby opens wider than in the 03-04 Gs. It took a little shaving but it wasn't hard at all. If you need help starting this project, let me know.
