I have a 2005 G35 MT Sedan. I was under the assumption that the full-size spare tire only applied to the Premium C package or if you specifically asked for it. I could not get the Premium C package with the manual transmission and I never asked for a full-size spare.

At the Digitalwheelz site it specifically says that the case will not work with a full-size spare. So, I was doing a bit of research and realized to check the orientation of my spare tire ... as to whether it was turned the right way to house the case. To my surprise ... I found that my spare was mounted the wrong way, as the image below shows.



My question is, do I have a full-size spare? I went back to check my sales sticker and it didn't mention anything about a full-size spare. I attempted to flip the tire over to see how things would fit; it seemed to be fairly stable. The bolt that secures the tire was now too long however.

Has anyone else that has a sedan bought this case?

That is NOT a full size spare
I can clearly read the 145 tire size in your pic, 200+ is what you've got on there for your road tires....

I think full size spares are identical rims as the other 4 as well. In some cases they are, not sure about ALL

Edit, I jsut looked at my spare. Your tire is properly orientated. Appears as though you flip it to get the extra space for installing the carputer. But yours is mounted properly!

 

Thanks for the confirmation. I guess my question is now ... the bolt is too long when the tire is flipped the other way ... other then cutting it, how should I secure the spare tire / carputer?

 

The picture on their website shows a scignifigantly shortened bolt. I assume they'de supply a new one, since cutting it yourself would likely require you to re-die the threads at the end, and that just becomes a pain in the @$$,

 

I noticed that in the picture as well and that's what I was thinking. However a new bolt did not come in my package.

I have not tested the spare tire case on a sedan, I assumed the spares were the same between the coupes and sedans, but this might not be true after all. It has been tested on pretty much every year coupe though without problems. Can you take a picture of the bolt and just the bottom of the spare tire case installed so I can get a better idea of what the problem is?

I tried to cut the bolt down but that didn't help. As you can see the threads on the bolt to not go high enough. I was wondering if I bought the bolt for a Coupe if that would solve the issue. I would assume that the threads type is the same. Do you think that would work?

Does anyone know the part number for the Coupe bolt or know of a web site I could buy it from?

Ok guys ... problem solved! ... If you own a Sedan and are interested in this case (I HIGHLY recommend it) you must buy a spare clamp/bolt from a Coupe. Here is a link to the item you need from InfinitiPartsUSA.
