Angry Removed badges - still see 'shadows'

So after much reading I went ahead and removed the 'INFINITI' and 'G35' badges on my Coupe (left the Infiniti logo in place). Per all I read, I used dental floss to carefully remove each letter, then used goo-gone on a Q-Tip to soak each piece of leftover adhesive. It all came out pretty good in terms of no scratches etc. I washed the deck lid then waxed the area where I removed the badges. I could still see where the letters were. I noticed that some letter lines still had a small amount of adhesive, so I went back over each one with Q-Tip and goo-gone. That looked a little better but still can see faint remnants of the letters. So I tried Scratch-X over the area, then another coat of wax. Still see faint outline/shadow where the letters were. Any ideas? I'm bummed 'cause I see a bunch of people here did this and said it came out "perfect"...

Skip the q-tip for one thing, put that stuff on a soft cloth and rub.
I had a shadow after removing the side molding and it took three wax applications to get rid of it.

Time will take care of it. If you're in a hurry you need a more abrasive polish, but that can be difficult to break down by hand. Try ScratchX a few more times.

thanks everyone for the responses, I do appreciate it! Worse comes to worst I can always glue them back on...but I do like the clean no badge look. I'll keep workin' on it.

Does your car spend a lot of time in the sun? Over time the paint will change colors slightly, but it seems like it would take a lot for an '04. Not impossible, though. The sun should even it out over time.

I think it was the sun. I had the same problem with the G35 emblem - there was always an imprint of it on the trunk.

Getting rear-ended by an SUV fixed the imprint for me.

I had the shadowing as well, it went away after a few more washes and waxes. Now it looks perfect, just give it some time.

No worries.
