Just noticed an 18'' scratch on the side of my G (drivers side door). Looks like it was keyed. Scratch is deep but not down to the metal. I can run a fingernail in the groove. What's the best way to remove it. And how do I go about replacing the clear coat? HELP!

 

Sorry to hear that but if you can run your fingernail thru it then maybe you might have to paint it for sure. I got keyed one time also its a bitch. I had a jet black BMW 5 series and took it my my detailer. He did something interesting. He took very fine sandpaper, kept running water over the scratch sanded it very lightly. Then i got the entire car detailed. I got about 85% of the key mark out. Dont do this yourself take it to a detailer and ask him this. Maybe this could help you.

Wet color sanding is I believe this process is called. Probably will take care of most of it! Get is done professionally like RashMan1450 said.

yea thats what it was called when i was replying to the post i didnt remember what it was called get it done by a profesional. If you do it yourself you will f*ck up for sure. Trust me
