Question How do you keep Volks Wheel Rims Shiny?

I love Volks rims, especially the SF Winnings... But... I see a couple of threads a week where someone has ruined the shine on their Volks rims. It makes me question getting a set.

I know that most (all?) Volks rims have a clear coat over the polished rim. I suspect most people that buy them know that too, but it seems so easy to ruin them. A friend takes your car through a carwash as a favor... or the dealer forgets that you didn't want them run through the wash.

Is there any way to restore Volks rims that have become dull without sending them back to the factory or sending them somewhere to be repaired?

Why does Volk put such a delicate finish on their wheels?

Wheelwax works great... or any of the zaino stuff. They're clearcoated, so in general if it's safe to put on your cars paint, you can put it on the Volks.

I still have the stock 19" wheels, but I'm pretty close to getting a set of wheels, probably Volks.

I plan on being the only person to wash my wheels too, but I'm concerned about something else happening.

I hate the thought of having to swap wheels every time I take my car to the dealer. I see your point though. That might be worth the peace of mind!

I use Zaino, but I never thought about putting a coat on my rims.

Are you talking about putting a coat of Z-2 on your wheels or do you mean some other product?

I Zainod them before I mounted them and I wash my care once a week for an hour. I use a wheel brush on them when cleaning. Dry everything by hand and finish with Zaino Z-6. My car looks better than new and the wheels are still shiny.

I need to do another coat of Zaino soon. Something one should do atleast once a year.

You used Z-6 before you mounted them too?

So, you use Z-2 the first time before you put them on and Z-6 after you wash them... Right?
