I use the cali waterblade for the hood, roof, and trunk. The other stuff sheets off pretty much entirely. I also use microfiber cloths after that, and only go in linear motions. Circles + black = swirls.
I use CG, and I apply it with microfiber cloths, as well. Pretty simple application. I've not used a conventional wax for a while now, but I'm guessing I'd use the sponge applicator and buff off with microfibers.

The waterblade is great, been using it for about 5 years now, I use that and a terry towel or a diaper, diapers work great, very soft and absorbent, and work well for removing wax from the car, I use Mother's California Gold liquid, used that on my Laser Red Mustang, always looked great! If you don't use circular motion, I find you get marks, just straight marks, depending on the color of course.

Does the california blade work good? is it better than using a chamois or microfiber cloth?

California Blade is just to remove the initial water buildup after you washed your car. Then you use a microfiber or chamois after. It really save time drying the car. As mentioned before, since your car is black, I HIGHLY recommend you not using it on your car.

ABQ- The reason to avoid the circular motion is that those nasty "spiderweb" swirls show up that can be viewed from any angle. If there are straightline scratches, they don't catch your eye from 360 degrees, so it's a little less severe. But yes, you do get marks no matter what.
wreck- I've used the cali blade on my black car, but NOT on the first wash, and ONLY if I've CGed it within the past month or so. Even then, I'm really careful... so far, zero scratches from the blade.
