Not sure if Im using the right tools!

ok... my car has alot of swirl marl (2nd owner) neways... i was lookin at how everyone is restorin there paint by compoundin, buffing and all that. I have a porter cable also but i dont have all that proffesional foam pad (orange yellow and all that) so i went to Peps Boy and bought this

on the back... its said it was good for compounding. it is one of those stretchable bonnet. would this work!? i got all the chemical like Meguiar Copunding and show glaze. Juss wonderin if i have the right tool so i wont mess up my paint! THANK YOU!!! PLzzz Help Me! Gotta keep the G lookin clean!

Use it for a pillow cover!!!!! Don't let it touch your car unless you know what your doing.

Research, research, research.....

thanks everyone... i juss decided to buy the Porter Cable 7424 with the SONUS PAD! Should come in 3 days so I will take a before and after picture when I finish!

which pad did you get,the swirlbuster pad with the swirlbuster polish.

thats a good kit and the pc 7424 is awesome but if you have swirls you need more then that.all that will do is polish the car,you need a mild abrasive to get rid of the swirls.autopia is a good site just read up on removing swirls and get the right products.good luck.

thats a start,but dawn dries the paint too much.get some rubbing alcohol and mix it with water,wipe it on and wipe it off.it will take all the old wax off.also if you use just compound it will probably mar the paint or leave heavy residue.follow his steps in that thread and you will be good to go.
