Washing Wheels/Wheel Wells, rust concerns?
Wondering if there should be any concerns about rust when washing the wheels and wheel well area on the G?
Is it ok to spray water directly into the wheels and wheel well area? or is there some precautions/method to wash the area to avoid rust?
-edit-
I'm referring to all the suspension and brake parts down there that get splashed w/ water if a hose is turned on it... Control arms, joints, springs, struts, brake parts, etc

what? no rust?
to properly clean your wheel well, you need to get the car on four jack stands and remove each wheel.
using a scotch scuff pad, scuff each suspension component to free it of dirt and grime. than using a specially prepared solution of olive oil and high quality filtered Brita water, bath the pieces. olive oil helps prevent grime build-up.
DO NOT spray it with water. rust is inevitable, all you're dooing with the olive oil is prolonging the components lifetime.
best of luck.

Aren't the wheel wells plastic? How do you get rust on that?
And yeah, like stated above, cars have to drive through rain. Water is not a foreign object to any car. Most new car brake rotors have anti-rust coating, basically you don't have to worry at all.
Sometimes driving through heavy snow storms, some rust can build up on the rotors. Dealership can resurface the rotors when that happens, don't know how much it costs....it's mainly for cosmetic reasons though, doesn't affect the performance of the brakes at all.

I do something similar. Just hose down the wells, soak in a cleaner (dawn mixed in a bottle with water is fine, or a wheel cleaner). Agitate with a wand brush and or brush/mf towel. Rinse clean, and either air dry or wipedown.
Follow up with a standard dressing. I prefer something like CD-2 Engine Detailer or Zaino Z16 due to their increased durability.

Do you use it under the hood as well?
I have been using whatever is cheap for the wheel wells on my Yukon lately. Maybe it is time to swap.
