clay bar stracthed my car!!
i only did it on one section of the hood and i stopped. yea i did every step correct i think i just used too much pressure and less lube.. i'll try it tomorrow and see what happens. thanks for the help!
Yea make sure your using enough lube and any chemical or cutting polish will remove the left over lube. You may need a medium to light cutting polish to remove any scratches though. Another tip that I don't think was mentioned was to clay in the shade and apply it to cool paint. If the paint is warm even slightly the lube is going to dry up much quicker. Hope this helps.

The clay gets softer with heat & marks easier.
Why do you need to wipe off the lube if you're going to wash the car after claying anyways? Normally I wash the car, clay, and wash it again before drying. Is that not what everyone does?
I'm thinking it just clears the surface of the grime and stuff that you just lifted up (any that the clay didnt fully pick up)....giving you a clean slate to work on. you don't have to wash right after. I waxed mine today after I used a clay bar, I believe thats what most people do.
