HELP - spilled root beer in my G!!

My wife was getting into the car and spilled a big nasty cup of Root Beer (I know I know - no food or drink in the car. Marriage is complicated.) Anyway, root beer got pretty much everywhere - all over the leather, pooled up in the leather seats, on the carpet, on the console, on the inside of the doors. It was a total catastrophe. I've done a pretty damn good mop up job just using cold water and terry cloth towels. I've also washed and treated the leather with Lexol. I just don't know how deep I should go. Should I get it professionally cleaned? Should I pull the console apart? Any help greatly appreciated!!

Divorce.

And, resolve carpet cleaner. For something so fresh, it will work. The deep clean stuff-- spray it on, let it sit for three minutes, and then soak it up with paper towels.

Console-- make sure you clean it off really well, and watch out in the cracks, etc. I'd say that if you're still finding residue tomorrow that you can't get to, etc. go get it cleaned...

Was she extremely aplogetic and "oh crap oh crap oh crap"?

Re: HELP - spilled root beer in my G!!

Thanks - Resolve is probably a good idea.

She was EXTREMELY apologetic. She knows how I feel about the car. To my credit, I held it together and didn't freak out. Now she's being *very* nice to me. Dig this - she got up early this AM and cooked me breakfast. That almost never happens!

I'll keep my eyes open for residue. I'm going to hold off on testing the operation of the seat head switches until everything dries completely - the fabric under the leather is still a bit moist. The seat controls appear to be fine - I had to use them extensively while cleaning everything up.

haha aww that is sweet of her. now play nice and put away those divorce papers. j/k. there is also this armor-all oxy-clean that works well on carpeting too. i used it in my mom's car for these mud spots on her mats.

What kinda wife doesn't make breakfast on a daily basis??
I'd say that was your first mistake my friend....

but crying gets us no where... I remember one time, my friend spilt an entire LARGE coke from McD's in my car.
some parts of my car never ceased to be sticky after that. and my heated seats buttons never worked the same again =(

get it cleaned asap!

i've also had a friend spill coke before, it got into the shifter (corolla-automatic) and after 2 years it is still sticky whenever it shifts in/out of park

Re: HELP - spilled root beer in my G!!

Lessons are learned...do not allow any guy friend to sit in the car! (exception: wives, girls, gfs ) This way its good for me...and good for them. Cuz if that happens...imma chop them up and feed to the dog. LOL.
