Attacked by tumbleweed, need help with scratches

The other day I encountered a huge tumbleweed int he middle of the 15 freeway (it was about 5-6 feet wide and high). I was surrounded by cars and couldn't get out of the way in time so I ended up getting hit pretty bad. Suprisingly the scratches weren't too bad - you can't feel them, but you can def. see them.

What do you guys recommend to get them out? There are lots. I have the Zaino starter kit (that I've never used) but I'm thinking I might be better off taking it to a professional. Any recommendations in the So Cal area? (Specifically Orange County or Temecula).

Thanks guys!
-Chris

Save your cash and do it yourself! For about the price of a "pro" cleaning it up, you could outfit yourself with the proper products, for quite some time!

I would definitely give it a shot yourself. In my (unpopular) opinion, the Zaino line may not have what you need to remove the type of scratches that you picked up. I would look towards something like Menzerna IP first if the scratches are in fact quite visible. Finish that with FP and a 50/50 water/alcohol wipedown and then go to Zaino or whatever you like. If they require more than IP, a mix of Extreme Cut and Optimum Polish may work for you. Check out www.autopia.org for various other product suggestions.

In some cases, scratchX might not be abrasive enough to remove the scratches. In that case, go with #80 or #83 bottle of Meguiars (remember to always go with the least abrasive and then step up when needed). Give us a picture of the damage and then we can help you further.

If you are looking to simply remove the scratches and be done with it, I'd say to go ahead and hire a pro to do it right the first time. Otherwise, you'll be buying products, that may or may not be abrasive enough. Depending on how bad the scratches are, it may need to be fixed with an orbital or rotary polisher. Unless you're looking to invest in one of these, you'll probably better off using a pro for this one time deal.
Good Luck!
