Re: Finish Contamination
Doesn't the sun help to swirl the paint as well?

swirls/light scratches are caused by you or someone dragging dirt/debris across the surface of your car. the swirls are formed by the dirt/debris being moved around in a swirly motion.

as far as cotton terry cloth towels are concerned, imo they may seem like a good idea, zaino seems to recommend large 100% cotton made in the usa terry cloth towels. i've learned that the concept is right, because as hard as you try, there is still a very good chance that you'll pick up debris anyway. again, imo, for the money you spend to buy 2-3 large 100% cotton made in the usa terry cloth towels, you should use to buy some quality microfiber towels. i prefer microfiber, as it seems to do a better job trapping debris and lifting it away from the surface of your car. obviously, if you pick up a pebble, you can still scratch the surface. but if you do that, and don't notice it, i'd imagine you have other issues.

i've never heard of the sun causing swirls, but they do enhance them visually.

you can't claybar if it's below 60 degrees outside?

damnit, I'm supposed to receive my car in a couple of weeks and I wanted to claybar before I put on the crystal guard...

Well, i've read that some people have clayed in 40 degree weather. I tried claying in 45 degree weather and I just wasn't able to mold the clay at all. Too damn cold. Maybe if you have big hands that emit a lot of heat, you'll be fine?
