I have a Black car and i was wondering I can use this duster very often in order to get rid of dust

Is it ok to use this in long term wise?

 

no duster is good for the paint. dragging dust or dirt over the paint is not good

 

Actually, a good car duster can be okay, even on a black car.

Many cautions however:

Only use it on a clean car that may have a light settling of dust on the car (such as your newly washed car, sitting in the garage overnight).

Never use it to clean heavy, gritty dust or dirt, or if the car's been wet.

Hold the duster lightly above the surface so the fibers are just touching (don't use it like a rag or mop).

The California Duster has been used on the floors of Car Shows for many years, even on cars that have expensive Custom Paintwork. Like anything, just make sure you know its limitations.

 

i use a calduster on my weekend cars. it's a nice tool if your car is clean
and only has light dust on it. follow up with QD for your next run.

for commuters i don't recommend it. just wash it.

 

DUST .. is dirt ... dust has sharp edges ... dust dragged across the paint will scratch the paint PERIOD!

 

dust and dirt are not necessarily the same... like others mentioned previously, if your car has just been washed and is sitting in a garage, it isn't dirt falling out of the air and settling on your car. it's dust, which in a household, is largely comprised of skin particles/shedding. that doesn't have sharp edges...

now if you're driving on the streets and then get "dust" from the road, that's another story...

I follow the same procedure for my black G. I haven't noticed any swirls from using the duster for > 1 year. I think it is pretty much common sense not to use it on an unclean car, meaning a car with dirt or any other substances on it. You will know when to use it, and when not to.

Also, I have no experience with the duster you are using, but I use the California Duster with the wooden handle. It works great.

 

use the california duster. it has a slight wax on its filaments. ive used it on black cars and it did not create swirls, scratches, etc. and it does the job quite well.

 

I use one occasionally (Meguiar's) when I don't have time for a wash and just have to remove light dust.

 

I respectfully disagree.....dust is dust. The duster is not made to remove dirt.

I have used that Cali duster for years and currently on my black G.

Go to Pebble Beach Concourse and you'll see people using them on $ Mil + autos all day long.

 

My last 4 cars have been black and I have used a duster on all of them with great results. Make sure and keep lots of wax on the car and only use it on the right kind of dust.

 

I use one on my black G and I don't see how they could cause swirls anymore than what happens when just washing a very dirty car (much more grit rubbing the paint even if it is lubricated with soap).

 

I would not recommend a duster. When I was in Cali w/ a black rsx and had dust right after a wash--I used a leaf blower and the dust flew right off!

 

The two cars that i have had are black...soo i have learned alot about taking care of black paint and i have used dusters on all of them. The dusters are ok to use ONLY if the car has a semi-fresh or fresh coat of wax. If the car hasnt been waxed in a month or so and you wash the car you will notice that it doesnt have that silk smooth feel to it so this means alot of the clearcoat is being exposed sooo dont use the duster...it can scratch the paint. If you have just applied a layer of wax to your car the night before and went driving across town and back most liekly you will have light dust on it...then use the duster it wont hurt the car at all. Just make sure that the car is waxed and super smooth before you use a duster other wise you will risk the chance of scratching the paint.

Like someone said before dont use it like a mop use it just so the fibers touch.
