Gatoraide in the back seat.

Someone spilled some gatoraide or some other red drink on the carpet on the back left seat. It's red and it's set in, anyone know what I can use to get it out?

You could try first using some club soda, or,Try using OXY Clean.........if you have a carpet shampoo machine, all the better.

The red dyes are usually the hardest stain to remove

I'd suggest a few things for you. First decide if you want to try to tackle this yourself or if you want to bring it to a professional with a carpet extractor. If you are going to tackle it yourself, I would suggest picking up a carpet cleaner, I typically will use 303 Fabric Cleaner diluted 6:1 (or stronger if needed), a firm bristle brush, an empty spray bottle with hot water inside and a vacuum, in this case a wet / dry one if possible.

I'd begin by vacuuming up the effected area. Spray some carpet cleaner on the stain and let it sit for a couple of minutes. After letting the product sit for a few minutes, I would suggest a few mists of the hot water, and begin to agitate the stain with the firm bristle brush. Every so often vacuum up the effected area again and assess and repeat if needed.

Another tip I want to mention, is leave a plate a baking soda near the effected area, this will help absorb some of the oder the Gatoraid may have left behind. Just remember to remove the plate of baking soda prior to driving so that you don't get it all over the place.

I've found this procedure works great for detailing enthusiasts who do not have access to a carpet extractor.

Let us know how everything turns out.

The kid that had the car before me loved gatorade and he spilt the **** everywhere! It took me like 3 days to do just the carpet in the car! then he smoked in the car so i had to do the roof liner, and then the leather. Wont even tell you how long all of it took me.
