full detail ????

Ive had my g for about a year and kept putting off a full detail. I have the typical swirls and about 2 or 3 deep scratches and some water stains.
A friend gave me some turtle wax rubbing compound in a red and white container. It took off the scratches but left some nasty swirls.
what I got planned to do tomorrow is fully detail the car out side
What I purchased;
Meguiar's Clay kit
Meguiar's ScratchX
Meguiar's full 3 step kit
Wheel Wax

My question is will the clay bar remove all the swirls ?
Do I need the ScratchX if Im claying ?
If I do need the ScratchX do I just use it on the area or the whole panel or the whole car ?
Should I clay my Carbon Fiber Hood & Trunk ?

Claying won't remove any swirls, scratch-x will still be needed. If you have the time and determination to apply scratch-x by hand to the entire car, then yes, do the whole car in 2x2' sections rubbing very vigorously and reapplying as needed. You won't need the paint cleaner if you scratch-x the whole car, but the glaze and wax should work fine, I would think about switching out the wax for one of meg's better waxes such as #20/#21/NXT/#26

the fine cut cleaner works well. just dont apply too much pressure. having said that. let the product do the work.

the nxt line also has a small amount of polish/cleaner in there.

the clay bar is to get the surface ready for other steps. after you use
this. rub your fingers over the paint..should be smooth as a babys bottom.

then your all set to rock n roll.

tip of the day. use 2 different M/F towels when drying. 1 for the top
parts of the car and the other for the lower areas. less chance of
accumulation of dirt on the towel.

I tried the same products you mentioned with some success. The scratchx is best for small areas of swirls left by the rubbing compound you used. You can do the whole car with it, but the results are proportional to the amount of effort you use working it into the paint. When I used it, I was tired after washing, drying, and
clay barring. I did just the hood before I was beat. I then used the step 2 followed by step 3 ( or your wax of choice). I came back each week and did another section of the car until done. It gives good results, but I decided to save myself the time and effort in future detaling sessions and bought the Meguiars machine polisher G100 with some other products in a package deal from

the Meguiars 3 step kit provides a great glossy look after the Carnuba wax. ive used it plenty of times and have been satisfied, but i havent been able to get out the swirls so i ordered Menzernas Intesive Polish and the Final Polish, hopefully thatll do the job.

I was told that I have to apply scratchx 3 times and rub it in really good instead of the step 1 bottle and after claying and that should take care of the swirls & to use NXT instead of the step 3 bottle.
My car isnt even that bad but I think its time for a good cleaning

Treat this the same as your clear coated paint. Carbon fiber is often clear coated or gel coated and can be treated the same way.

Let us know how the detail comes out.

All I got to do today was wash and clay. I started kinda late. I scratchx'ed the passanger fender and it looks great but when I moved on to the door I didnt get the same result I got on the fender. Could be that I'm very tired. I worked out in the morning and had some heavy lifting to do around the house and reorganize my garage. I'm gonna try the door again in the a.m hopefully it improves.

start with the Final polish 2 first. if you have basic swirls? this is
all you should need.. Intensive is designed for deep scratches

menzerna fp 11 has very little cut to it.i would go with ip with a polishing pad first, then move up to a cutting pad if needed.btw menzerna power gloss is the stuff for nasty swirls and scratches.
