I have a 04 OB 6mt and it had some painted pin stripes from the dealer...i lived with them for 2 years and always wanted to take them off. So yesterday i decided to try myself to take them off instead of the local body shop charging $80 to take them off. Basically I just bought some Acetone from the local hardware store. I put a bit of acetone on a terry towel and rubbed it on the pin stripe. To my surprise it came off pretty easily and my car looks WAY better now. Some parts required some hard scrubbing to remove it completely, but it worked great. I wish I would of done this 2 years ago!

can anyone confirm this isnt harmful for the paint? There is a drop dead sexy midnight blue g35 for sale by me and itd be a lot easier than taking it to the body shop if i do decide to purchase.

Call Vince at Senik paint: 949-642-8141. He'll know for sure - and if there's a better way, he'll know that too.

I would wash the car and at least claybar the area the stripes were at least and then put a coat of wax on

I would be concerned removing stripes with acetone. It tends to dissolve clear coat and make it look foggy.
