Auto Dry Car Wash!
Auto Dry Car Wash!
I dont know if anyone else tried the auto dry car wash yet but it works perfect. My OB coupe dried perfect even after the water was frozen on. Of course the garage helped with this. I cant bring myself to go to the car wash even if it is 22 outside and this sure helps. And it's so nice not to have to abuse the black paint with any more scrubbing than nessecary.

Yeah thats the stuff. Works perfect. I dont know what the replacement filters and soap cost yet but if they are wihtin a reasonable price it's so worth it. not one water spot on the car. Beautiful!
Re: Auto Dry Car Wash!
I think you have to use their soap because it has some kind of polymer in it. I got my kit at Target for $20, but haven't tried it yet.

They sat that you have to use their soap but I think if you used your own and then rinsed with the filter water it would probably work fine too. I mean think about it if you made this thing wouldn't you try to say that only your soap worked.
Re: Auto Dry Car Wash!
I'd probably make it so that only my soap worked. I believe the soap is formulated such that it allows the water to sheet and rinses 100% clean... not sure every other soap does that. It's guarenteed revenue. God forbid someone discover that it needn't be my soap.

Re: Auto Dry Car Wash!
The box states not to use any other soap. I got mine last night at target and might use it today as I can't drive the car until DMV gives me the all the paperwork I need.

Re: Auto Dry Car Wash!
Well, I tried mine out today.
The directions do state clearly that you must use their soap and that any other might clog the system. Now, I doubt that it would clog anything, but the soap they use is formulated to sheet after rinsing. If you can find a good soap that does this, then it would probably be okay.
The kit comes with a "starter" filter and a small bottle of soap. The filter is good for 3 uses. The soap can probably do 2 or 3 cars. I have not yet found refills for either. Got my kit at the Über Wal-Mart in town. It is an end-cap item right now.
I modified the process just a little, in that I first washed the car with my preferred solution, rinsed, then used the provided soap, rinsed, then used the filtered water. I would recommend also using a towel or mitt to ensure that the provided soap gets applied everywhere so as to avoid spotting.
Once I rinsed with the filtered water, lo and behold the car dried with no spots. I suppose you can use the water blade to speed up the process if you wish by removing most of the excess.
It does seem to work as advertised. The hard parts are 1) waiting for the process to complete (patience); and 2) finding the refills.
Just my $.02.

Hmmmm, sheeting huh? Does the water still bead after it rains or anything? That sounds like dishwasher detergent almost, seems like it's removing some wax! Does it?

Re: Auto Dry Car Wash!
I tried it today and am satisfied with the results, however, after the starter kit materials are exhausted i plan to just buy the filter refills and wash the car with my normal soap in a bucket method and then just do the final rinse with the mr. clean since the filtered water is the only part responsible for the spotless drying
...and the websites states that the soap does not strip wax

Re: Auto Dry Car Wash!
Ahh yes that was what I was gonna say. The bucket thing, with the unit you technically dont need a bucket but then the washcloth doesn't get rinsed which is no good so I will be using a bucket next time. Just a thought.
Re: Auto Dry Car Wash!
I had been watching this on TV for quite a while and am going to pick one up to try in spring. I'm glad to hear good reviews from this forum.
