Zaino and wax question...

Not sure if this has been asked before or if this is common knowledge... but if I use Zaino Z2 and Z5 as the base coats, can I add another coat of... say... tutle wax?

And when the wax wears off, will the Zaino wear off with the wax? Or will it still be remain on the clearcoat?

Thanks for any clarification.

I'm sure you can but the results may not be as good as if you kept using Zaino.

I think you'd probably want to continue applying additional coats of Zaino, since it has the ability to be layered. I wouldn't think it would melt off if you topped it with something else though.

Yes, you can add a layer of wax over a sealant. Alot of people do this because you get the durability of a sealant, and also the deep wet look of a Carnuba wax. It's recommended that you let your sealant cure for 24 hours before you apply any wax over it. I personally use Zaino Z2/Z5 with a coat of Natty Blue's Paste wax over top.

Also, when the wax wears off, the Zaino will still be there of course.

Thanks for all the answers!!

One more, If i use ZFX additive, that means that it will cure immediately, right? Or do I still wait 24 hours?

Yes and Yes. Normally, you'd wait 24hrs for the sealant to cure. But with ZFX, you can layer immediately after wiping off.

My question is, what are you trying to accomplish? If durability and longevity are issues, I'd agree with hoenignd and ttrank, keep layering with Zaino. If you are looking for depth and gloss, Garnet Canuck's way is right on with the Natty's. I prefer Chemical Guys Pete's 53 or 5050 over Natty's, but Nattys is cheaper.

I think all would agree, you just have to try it yourself and see which you prefer. Zaino + Zaino or Zaino + Nuba???

Thanks, I'm looking at longevity as well as depth and gloss from wax. I wanted to make sure that the 3 layers of Z2/Z5/Z2 that I spent so much time on will not be compromised in longevity if I apply wax is all.

Again, thanks!

I dont think you should use anything else once you have used zaino. Since I have zaino'd mine since the day i drove it home. It will never see any other type of wax if its not Zaino. I believe a while back I spoke to a zaino representative and he said that its realy not a good idea to switch and use something else once you have used zaino...

Zaino is not a wax. Its a polymer sealant. It may be made differently than others, but its still a sealant. You can apply a carnauba wax to add depth and gloss over any sealant.

I spoke to an Infiniti salesman and he said it wasn't a good idea to switch to any other car besides Infiniti, not even a Nissan.

+1. You can apply a Carnuba over any sealant, including Zaino. You just can't apply a sealant over a Carnuba because sealants don't bond well to Carnuba waxes.

If any of you guys want to read a great write up, click here.
