Does anyone know how to remove a permanent marker stain on exterior? I purchased a spoiler online and they wrote "G35" on it with a permanent marker. I tried waxing it off but it's still there. Seems like the wax sealed the writing.

 

A light abrasive polish such as Meguiar's ScratchX should take it off with ease and can be hand applied and found locally at almost any automotive parts store.

Be sure to follow up with a sealant or a wax to ensure your spoiler is properly protected from the elements.

rubbing alcohol will work too

 

use a white board marker over it and it takes off perm. Pen and marker

 

i think the marker stained into the clear... so scratch-x would be the
choice for me too.

^ Yeah I guess they couldn't keep track of what type of spoiler it was. Or they were too lazy to attach a tag on it.

 

have you tried what he said that really works. Wont harm the paint at all. Just write over the mark with the white board marker and erase it and see if its gone

 

lighter fluid, the kind for zippo. just be sure to wax after, cause it'll remove it too.

 

maybe apply Oops! or Goof-Off


recommend applying it to an inconspicuous area first just to make sure it doesn't ruin the paint

 

be very careful with goof off, it will soften certain paints/clearcoats.

 

goof off will totally destroy your paint. I bet a claybar would take the marks off

 

I tried the marker and it didn't work. Will try Scratch X next.

 

what about a light wet sand?

 

While this method would work in removing the market, but there's no reason to remove that much excess clear coat for a surface stain. It should come off pretty effortlessly with something much less aggressive than wet sanding. Ideally, you want to remove as little clear coat as possible to remove the markings.
