hood repainting

i recently was driving on the highway and someones vent shade fell off and it hit the hood of my 06 g35 and it scratched the hood of my car it is about a 5 inch and i went to body shop and they told me about 300 dollars to fix it and they need to repaint my hole hood and i have the venture shield on my car and he said that i dont need to take it off he will just repaint up to the shield. Do you think that i will notice a color difference and should i pull the venture shield and paint the whole hood or just up to the venture shield. and does the price seem reasonable?

Talking

It's about the price you're looking at. There will be a slight difference in coloration but only noticable if thoroughly examining it. This is just because your paint has already settled and new paint is being applied. That sucks that someone else's stupidity f-ucked you over. good luck with the repairs!

IF UR going to let UR insurance cover it, then by all means remove and replace the VentureShield too. I would think it is kinda "iffy" for them the sand and repaint up to UR shield edge without it causing problems in the future.

Can't they just repair the scratched area, and then blend it in? I would rather keep the original paint as long as possible, and depending on your color, it may not even be necessary to repaint the whole hood.

If you have Ivory Pearl, then do the whole hood, because they would never match it especially on the hood where its noticeable.

take the clear bra off and repaint... if you go to a good body shop and get the hood repainted.. you will not notice a difference.. the paint will probably even be better than original.. (thicker clear coat, and less orange peel)

Repaint the whole hood. You haven't indicated what color you have, but if it is metallic, they will have a harder time matching.
